Went to Phnom Penh Range during a brief visit to Cambodia in Jan 2012. Had 50 rounds on the AK47 assault rifle and 50 rounds on the K57 belt fed machine gun.
Total cost was equivalent to £100 Sterling.
Bloody good fun, blatting coconuts at give or take 40m.
Only complaint is that the K57 was either very worn or poorly maintained as after roughly every 4/5 rounds you would end up with a stoppage and the weapon would have to be cleared.
That said though it it probably the best fun you can have with your pants on!!!
I recommend it to anyone.

We had a blast shooting guns like the ak 47,m16 and machine guns.they also let you shoot a rocket launcher but its quiet expensive so we passed up on that.protect your ears otherwise your ears are going to be ringing for a long time!

Shooting was one of the main things I wanted to do in Cambodia and it was definitely one of my best experiences. Booking through Steven made the whole process very simple. Minutes after I emailed him he Skype called to arrange the shooting. I was given all the information both by call and email. It was an incredible day. There was no problem with pickup and we were provided with drinks the whole day.Steven put a group of us together so that we got a chance to see all kinds of guns and even an RPG which made the whole day so much more worthwhile. To top the day off Steven also made a video which was sent to us the same day we did the shooting. I would definetely recommend this and I would to do it again if I were to return to Cambodia!

Feb 2015 • Family
We visited in February 2013.
We fired the rocket launcher plus assorted machine guns including the biggest they had. As we fired the rocket launcher, it meant they took us out into a more remote area which was about 1 hour drive out.
Overall it was an expensive experience with poor quality equipment. My son had the memorable experience I was hoping for firing the rocket launcher that made it worthwhile but I was disappointed otherwise.
Things to note:
1) Allow plenty of time
The guys tend to move very, very slowly when you are there selecting your weapons choice. We made our selections and then had to wait for at least 40 minutes before any movement happened.
If you choose to fire the rocket launcher, you will be taken about 1 hour out and 1 hour back to a remote area.
2) Getting there is easy
Any cab driver will have you there very quickly. Ours had the shooting range on his laminated plastic sheet of things to do. Just hop a cab and ask them and they will know where to go.
3) The weapons are in poor condition
We had difficulty with any machine gun getting more than 10 rounds out without a jam. Many of the guns are old and poorly maintained. That detracted from the experience.
4) You'll probably get shaken down for more money
After I had paid, and once they had us in the remote area of Cambodia, I was instructed to pay tips to a number of others (between $20 and $50 each). I refused and suggested the large fee I had paid covered the other staff. We got some very nasty looks from the head guy and friends, all of whom have sidearms and machine guns
5) You are bribing people
This is not a proper shooting range. You are going on to a Cambodian Army base where you are bribing soldiers to fire army ordinance. Some of the people operating this are very shady and you need to consider your own safety.
6) Don't take the "shoot cow or chicken option"
They offer you to shoot chickens or cows. We were repeatedly offered the opportunity to shoot the machine guns at chickens at $20 per chicken. We were also offered the opportunity to shoot a cow at $200 per cow. We refused both but there were plenty of chicken carcasses where others had obviously chosen to do so. We thought shooting animals that way was cruel and in poor taste given the poverty and hunger in Cambodia.

They advertise free transportation, 50$ for one gun with but they ask you to take two (100$) otherwise you pay the transportation on top (20$). After negotiation when you are OK to take two guns and pay 100$, they still want you to pay for the transportation... I canceled then.... better do it in Thailand.

Dear Sir Scam
We scam you or you scam US?
my website said clearly 500$ minimum spent to get free transportation, not 50$ to get it.
we do charge 20$ for pick up and drop from hotel to the range Because you only shoot one gun Cheap and also ask for discount, we never do that 20$ transportation but because of you ask for it,you want to have good experience with US, we alway do 35$ of the individual CAR like that not 20$
thanks

We paid a took took driver to take us to the killing fields and arrived at this dangerous place. Entered a steel gate which was closed behind us with no escaping and shuffled into the shooting range shed. We were then told to shoot and pick a gun, so feeling a little unsafe, my girlfriend and I chose to shoot the M4 between us. Paid $160 for 100 shots and literally got about 40 shots out.

My girlfriend and I contacted Steven of www.cambodiashooting.com, arranged to shoot 100 rounds on an M60 machine gun and each shoot an RPG (rocket launcher), and we had an excellent experience. It was totally awesome, and I highly recommend it. Be warned: a lot of tuk tuk drivers and others will be enthusiastic to take you shooting, and I'm certain that these places/companies are the source of the really bad reviews here.
We paid $350 for each RPG shot and $150 for the 100 rounds on the machine gun, and Steven afforded us a 15% discount because the total of our expenditure was high enough. Refer to his website for the details on pricing.
We arranged everything less than 48 hours before the shoot without a phone with no problem. Steven's agent Piseth arrived at our hotel at the requested time and transported us to the range for free with one of the soldiers who would be helping us once we got there. Once we arrived, we were the only ones there, and we got to shooting right away. I've shot a lot of weapons in my life, but the RPG has definitely been the most memorable and was absolutely worth the money. My girlfriend who has much less shooting experience had no problem shooting it as well, and had a really great time, too. The actual location of the range is a military base here:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=11.38500,104.39124&ll=11.38500,104.39124&ie=UTF8&z=12&om=1
Don't bother driving yourself there, though, unless you think you can handle talking your way onto a Cambodian military base and haggling your own prices.
Piseth was a real gem who went out of his way to get us a good price on a taxi direct from the military base to Kep.
The only reason I give it 4 out of 5 stars is because the level of range safety isn't really up to par. I didn't expect much from a Cambodian shooting range, and it didn't surprise me when they told me not to shoot a little off to the left because there were people working over there... but when more people showed up, it got uncomfortable a few times. For example, when another westerner was attempting to fire an M79 grenade launcher, it failed to fire when he pulled the trigger, and when the man who was helping him came to check it out, he took it from the westerner and rather slowly barrel swept my girlfriend who was standing off to the side. Nobody likes having a loaded grenade launcher pointed at them, especially one that just failed to go off and might decide to change its mind at any moment. There was also no established firing line or cease fires which got kind of weird when more people showed up to shoot.
Regardless, with some basic improvement to the safety protocols of the handlers, this could be a five-star experience, and I would still recommend it to my friends because hey, when and where else are you going to get to pay to shoot a freaking rocket launcher?
And please don't pay to shoot a cow. That's messed up.

I had been eagerly awaiting the firing range as part of my trip particularly because I wanted to shoot the grenade launcher (M79).
They had the launcher for $100 a shot but refused to let me shoot it unless I also purchased the rocket launcher as well. The reason is that they have to drive you to the mountains to shoot and they refuse to drive if you're only shooting a M79.
Disappointed, I looked over the menu which was MUCH smaller than others have commented. There was 6 guns to shoot, a grenade, grenade launcher and rocket launcher. The menu I was given only quoted prices based on 100 rounds (150 each)
I chose the Ak 47 and was pretty disappointed. I shot about 5 single shots before they turned on automatic mode where I released close to 30. All and all, I didn't get anywhere CLOSE to 100 bullets and was told I was done.
Welcome to Scambodia!

I decided to fire the ubiquitous ak47 and was told that I would get to shoot 30 bullets for 40 dollars.
The instructor loaded the magazine in the rifle and i proceeded to take aim and fire. After 15 shots the magazine was empty and I was instructed to leave the range.
I told them it seemed a bit short and that I hadn't fired 15 bullets to which they replied I had. Luckily my friend recorded me shooting and we counted each shot I fired. I was then given another magazine and went back to the range. However after only five shots the magazine was empty again. I complained but was told in no uncertain terms that my time was done.
What should have been a cool experience turned into a blatant rip off by ex military type men with big guns and a bad attitudes.
My advice, do it in Vietnam!

Just got back today from the proof range, it's about 1 hour from Phnon Penh. I had a go on the RPG for $350 then $50 for 30 rounds on the AK-47, both were a blast but I missed the mountin with the RPG and it went off just over a ridge. For $300 more you can shoot a cow but I wouldn't recommend doing it with the RPG but with the other assortment of weapons it was a hoot.

Hi all,
I posted comment "Shooting might be excited if no trick !" few days ago. But it was my mistake. I complained a Shooting Clud nearby Killing Field. I checked on Google but not sure what was its name except it was also called "Shooting Club" by taxi driver. It was indoor range, in small road and about 2km from Killing Field. If anybody know, please correct me.
I had checked address of Piseth's Cambodia Shooting Club and sure the Club wasn't the one I visited.
I couldn't find how to withdraw or edit my above comment. So, I'm very sorry for the mistake.

Hi Ryan, I'm heading to Cambodia in a couple months. What was the cost of the day at the range? Don't want to get my hopes up if it's extortionate as I'm backpacking on a tight budget.
Cheers!
