We finally got to see the wreckage and the monument. It is only a short distance from the Mausoleum. The setting is a lovely residential area, with the wreckage in a small lake surrounded by houses and gardens. Well worth the short trek for nostalgic...More

I am not sure this is worth going out of your way to see, I guess its significant, but it is out of context. Setting is nice, its a quiet back water area of town. Nice café there

We walked from our hotel to this site... It's very sombering to see pieces of American aircraft and knowing that the crew probably perished after it was shot down. Don't expect a lot as its pieces of an airplane in a small pond but if...More

An unexpected discovery among...More

Took some searching, but we found the B52 in Huu Tiep Lake. Amazing laneway adventure to find it. Downed 45 years ago in Hanoi, it is now surrounded by beautiful flower markets (and Cafe B52 lol).

This is an interesting stop, but it’s kind of in the middle of nowhere and is a bit hard to find. The lake is very small and pretty dirty looking in the middle of a residential area. The remains of the plane are visible, but...More

It is a confusing taxi ride from the main city of Hanoi and there is very little signage to help you find the place. Once you get to the "pond", there is very little information available. It is a walled rectangular pond with nothing scenic...More

The downed B-52 that still sits in this small lake, is pretty astounding. One of the best opportunities to see a remnant of the Vietnam War up close in Hanoi. Amazing how it just sits there and life goes on around it. No major pomp...More

This unfortunate pilot died in the crash. There is a whole mini tourist site around this small lake. We enjoyed our tea while we talked about the war. Our guide, who was somewhat short in stature, enjoyed my comment that the Vietnamese are like him-...More

Make sure you have a guide or Google maps - even a seasoned map reader can get lost finding this little gem. Site of part of a shot-down B52 bomber, right in the middle of an active community. Not a lot else here besides this...More
