Being a traveller Vietnam was always in my bucket list. Last year I got a chance to visit Vietnam and Ha long Bay was one of my favorite destinations. It's a breath taking destination and I took a lots of pictures of beautiful views. The food on the boat was yummy especially the sea food. Everyone should visit this place when visiting to Hanoi.

We had an amazing tour with DEM as our guide. He made our tour special as he really looked after us all. We couldn't fault anything. The food, accommodation and excursions were brilliant.

No trip to Vietnam is complete without a visit to Ha Long Bay. 2-3 hour bus ride from Hanoi, but well worth the trip. We stayed over night in one of the ships, and toured the small beach island, the caves and did some paddle boating. Beautiful scenery, sunset and sunrise. This trip was my favorite place to visit in Vietnam.

Vietnam tour will not be complete without a visit to Ha Long Bay. Truly a spectacular sight. A day tour will start you off at 8am pick up by bus (if you are staying in Hanoi) and takes approx 2.5 hour to reach the bay area. Few things a must to experience in the day tour, a visit to the Sung Sot cave, kayaking or for the less adventurous the sampan boat and a nice tea time at the deck of the cruise boat watching sun set at the backdrop of limestone hills islet while sipping your drinks. Note it depends on the cruise company you are using, the service and itinerary may be different

This trip was top of our list while in Hanoi. Decided to pay for luxury option and glad we did. Budget trip would have been good but once in a lifetime. Guide Victor (his English name) was very good and kept us informed and looked after all our needs. 12 hour round trip would have been longer and less comfortable if we had not taken toll highway both ways. Our boat also good quality unlike some of the 50 or more boats at the harbour. A trip we will never forget and made for a great Father's Day. If only the kids had paid😀

Our last trip in Hanoi and the most satisfying trip and worth of the price.
I did 2 trip with Incredible Asia Journey Tour company. As I’m traveling as mum with 3 boys so I feel I need to be more organize.
I’ve been researching for the activities for a while until I find Incredible Asia Journey, Tony Jaa the Sales person then found out that he is one of the directors is very helpful, supportive, and corporative since the very beginning until end of our Journey with their company. This make me feel safe as I need to make sure that we are on the right hands.
They pick up with Limousine Bus, which very comfortable, the driver also good. Our Guide Dan the Man is very supportive and kind. He is also funny. On this one day journey we become one like a family with other passengers and the guide.
The staffs on the boat are very helpful and nice as well.
Our trip is the gifts from the universe, we were very surprised of how nice and beautiful is the boat and the services on board is great. They serve very great foods, the activities very fun, kayaking or Bamboo boat to see the scenery, the view is very amazing. My boys love to jump on the water and swim. They also very happy, we got to see the chef does the fruit carving and the flambé. We also learned to make the fresh spring roll. At the end of the noon, the afternoon tea and coffee, with fruits, cookies and cakes is like cherry on top of our journey. We feel so lucky.

One of the highlights of our trip in Hanoi was visiting Halong Bay. Our trip was arranged via our hotel, Le Siesta Diamond & Spa in the Old Quarter and we had opted for a private tour. The pick up was scheduled for 0900 a.m. at our hotel and we had a personal tour guide, Chris and transportation was provided by the hotel in an airconditioned saloon vehicle. Free bottled of cold water was provided to us.
The journey from Hanoi to Halong Bay took just slightly over 2 hours along the highway with a 30 minutes stop over at a Pearl factory where you could buy pearl jewellery here.
On arrival at the Paradise Marina, we were quickly checked in by Chris and in no time, we went abroad our tour boat called "Dong Duong 06", with a crew of 4 including the pilot. We had the luxury of the whole boat to ourselves and Chris, our tour guide.
As it was almost 1 p.m. when we set sail, we were served lunch by the crew fit for a king and queen. There was Vietnamese cucumber salad, prawns, spring rolls, chips, pork with mushroom, fish and beef stir fry and fresh fruits for dessert.
We paid for drinks on the boat and we bought souveniors the crew sold onboard.
Chris our tour guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable about Halong Bay and not only that he gave us commentary en route to Halong Bay.
The ride on the boat was amazing, smooth and cruising along the sea and the lime stone mountains. The mountain scene was amazing and breath-taking. We saw some sea eagles flying in the sky.
We arrived at one of the limestone bay and docked. Chris led us to see the "Heaven cave" where we had to climb a number of steep steps into the cave. Once inside the cave, the sights were amazing and Chris explained how the cave was found by a fisherman chasing a monkey. There are huge stalamites in the cave and it is well preserved and cleaned as visitors are limited by the tourist board which is good to know.
There was an opportunity for some kayaking at the floating village which we declined and opted for more time cruising on the boat and soaked up the wonderful limestone mountains.
We went onboard the boat and set sail back to the Marina for our journey back to our hotel.
As Halong Bay is considered one of the 7 wonders of the world, one must visit the bay when in Hanoi. A trip of a life time which must not be missed.
Chris is a fantastic tour guide who kept us enterained throughout the journey and he is a free-lance tour guide.

My husband's and I just completed am overnight on the boat "Violet" from Heritage Boat Lines. Such a lovely and leisurely way to see Ha Long Bay.
There were only 6 spacious, well appointed cabins. The food was delicious and the others on the boat were very nice and from all over the globe. We were in the Dragon Room. If you can...ask for it.

Tooked a pakage from travel agent in Old Quater. USD 32 perperson. Bus collect at hotel all around Old Quater. It tooked about 4 hours plus half our stop. You will be gather with other group to cater for one boat. Once a tour leader bought you a tikets you will be walked to a boat. Everybody in group of 6 will be served lunch. Dont forget to bring a bottle of drinking water or you got to pay for it. The boat started the tour after you nearly finished the lunch. Take you to a few island then to stop pit for bamboo boat or kayak. After an hour when fo limestone cave. Got to walked up the hill for the cave. Tour is finished and take a bus back to Old Quater. Another 4 hours journey.

Hello,
Wondering what time we would expect to get back to HaNoi after a 2d/1n HaLong Bay tour.
Thinking of getting a 5:30pm flight to DaNang...........Would this be pushing it?
(did the tour some 8 years ago but can't recall getting back. I think it was late)
Cheers in advance

Hello,
From Ha Noi to Ha Long bay took 5 hour of drive time, one way. So, I don't think one day would be enough time. But you can find a private bus, like the one we took, to take you to Ha Long bay the night before. And you have to book a one day cruise tour. But I am not sure if there is a one day cruise tour. Also, it will take 5 hours to drive back from Ha Long Bay to Ha Noi.
I don't think one day is possible. But I would suggest calling a cruise agent and see if the agent can work their magic. Be side, wouldn't hurt to try.
Good luck!

We are looking to do a similar trip to the one you review.
what is the name of the area you went kayaking?
was the water clean of tourist pollution/debris?

Hello Glencie,
I realized that you had posted the question a year ago. But if you haven't take the trip, I hope this will help you with your decision.
The water in Ha Long Bay was clean. We didn't see any tourist debris. I was told by the cruise staff that the government had relocated two floating towns in Ha Long Bay. So, that has help with the trash floating in the tourist area.
We kayaked in two area, but I can't remember the first one to safe my life. The second area was around the Dragon cave. The tour guide took us on a short hike into a cave called Dragon Cavern (I think?). Then after the hike (it was very short hike), we kayak around the island and out to the cruise boat. The water was calm, clear with turquoise green color.
I hope this help with your trip planning. Good luck!
