An eye opener to the diversity of Vietnam and some important historical events. Probably about 3 hours is required to get an understanding.

We arrived at the museum just 30 minutes before closing time. Our guide suggested seeing just the outside displays, so that was our focus. And wow! Fascinating building from the Cham dynasty, on stilts and architecturally unique.
Even with such a short time, the visit was worthwhile and I recommend--would love to have had more time to see the inside as well.

This place really surprised me - not just the main museum, but around the back they had examples of the different types of traditional houses, etc., which was very interesting and fun. Highly recommend!

Lovely museum featuring cultures not only from the ethnic minorities in Vietnam but also other countries. Loads of kids around and they seem to enjoy it too. I like the garden more than the indoor exhibitions as there are a lot of re-creation of architectures from the rural villages and visitors could step inside to experience them.

Be prepared to see another perspective on the Vietnam War than an American side. Real planes, vehicles and POW camp set up too.

This was well worth the visit. You must have a guided tour again for this one again, or you will learn nothing. The Museum is very good. You will see how they lived, there clothing, there musical instruments, there weaving and many more. You are not aloud to take photos inside though. Our guide told us how the chinese stole there Island, and there fishing grounds and that there was nothing they could do to stop them. Terrible Terrible but typical of them. Take time to look around the grounds. It is well worth it.

The VIP tickets had been worthwhile in a couple of rows. You will find 3 price categories based on just how near the front side you sit. We paid additional to sit down on the front row and Im happy we did. A beautiful small story all completed in Vietnamese with standard songs, musical instruments, and a few rather amazing puppets. the car seats had been comfortable and additionally the theatre was comfortably cool. It was neither too loud or insanely dark in the theatre therefore pleasant. It was pleasant to see old Vietnamese tradition also I'd certainly suggest it for almost all.

Really well maintained, 100K VND per person admission fee is completely worthwhile. Great group of Vietnamese and world ethnological artifacts. The primary appeal is definitely the various types of full scale Vietnamese houses of many cultural groups recreated here.

Hi,
I'm wanting to take my mum to Vietnam (and Cambodia) in November 2021 (Covid allowing) but I'm worried that I have too many museums on the itinerary that will all be very similar: I have the War Remnants Museum and the Museum of Vietnamese History in HCMC, and the Presidential Palace and Vietnam Museum of Ethnology in Hanoi.
Are these museums super similar? And do they mainly focus on the Vietnam War or do they include Vietnamese history and culture both before and after? I don't like how Vietnam is mainly acknowledged for the Vietnam War :/
Thankssssss
Where do we get a guide for this tour. What is the fees for a guided tour at the Vietnam museum of ethnology? Thank you

You don't require a guide. It's a small 2 storied building and everything is written on the walls. If you still need, you can hire the guide at the premises. You won't take more than 30 mnts to finish seeing the entire museum.

How far is it from Old Quarter?

I would certainly take a taxi, or Grab car. The hotel or hostel where you are staying should be able to arrange a reliable taxi or Grab car. Be sure to give the driver the correct address as well as the name of the place you are going.
Are shorts allowed?

Yes Many wear shorts. It is only in operational Temples or Pagodas shorts are not permitted in the inner sanctums. Some of the more major ones like the Ancient Temple in Hue provide cover up robes for hire at minimal costs to allow entry. Ho Chi Min's tomb also requires long trousers.
Will this be open during tet? What are your hours during the week of tet?

Bonjour,

Saludos y buen viaje.

My plan >> Saigon to Phan Thiet (Mui Ne) stay for 2 days, then Phan Thiet to Dalat (3 days), then Dalat back to Saigon. Can I book bus ticket at Ho Chi Minh (Sinh Tourist) for all the journeys or I must book at the departing stations? Is Sinh Tourist the best option for bus?

如果你能能夠讀英文那就沒問題。但在這裏的說明也是很間單,如果你有導遊的話就比較長細。
