You cannot help but pass by this building. Would have loved to attend an opera but did not have the clothes that would be considered appropriate.

We have attended shows in Hanoi Opera House on two separate occasions. The first was a concert of Vietnamese Classical Music featuring the Vietnam Youth Orchestra. The music was wonderful. The second was a production of life in Vietnamese rural village. This was both educational...More

Attended a performance on January 11, 2018 and sat in row “J”. The seat was angled down toward the floor a bit and I tried to hold it level throughout the performance. I would never go back.

We got tickets for the show "My Village" at the Hanoi Opera House during our stay. While the show lasted only just over an hour, it was worth the price of our tickets. The young performers were talented, polished and full of energy and enthusiasm....More

This is a 50% size version of the Opera in Paris, put up by the French during their 100 years as colonial power. It has the expected nostalgic effect, complete with the 'loges' of the past. On an earlier visit, I saw the "Nutcracker" ballet,...More

The building is in the French colonial style, and really beautiful. The theatre area is luxurious with velvet seating and beautiful high ceilings. The My Village show is interesting with incredible acrobatics and interesting use of props, but the story can be hard to follow....More

You can really see the beautiful French architecture with this glorious building standing majestically. We did not get the opportunity to go inside but the outside is lovely. Hopefully I get the chance to visit again so I can see the inside. Sorry, not the...More

Though I did not get inside the day of my visit, the architecture is wonderful. Brides and their grooms were using the Opera as a backdrop for their wedding day photos.

I think you have to go to a show but there is a bar so maybe during show times you will get in. Hope this helps. Others enjoyed the show we didn't rate it.

We went to the Opera and the dress code was relaxed which was a relief. Smart casual is fine (I only had black jeans and a shirt as we are on holiday from the UK and that was fine). If you wanted to dress up more then you... More
