This temple alongside Lake Hoan Kiem was built in the 19th century, and named after Saint Van Xuong. Confucian scholar Nguyen Van Sieu had a large pen-shaped tower built at the entrance of the temple in 1864, featuring three Chinese characters, Ta Thanh Thien, which literally means "to write on the blue sky is to imply the height of a genuine and righteous person's determination and will."

On the island on the lake over the red bridge. We popped in for 10 minutes wander around Which as it’s so cheap isn’t a big issue. A lovely pergoda and some nice trees in a calm setting. Would recommend that you go at night...More

We were staying around the lake so started a walking tour on our own here. Temple is quaint and has some nice views as well as some cool plants. Don't need more than 15-20 minutes to see the whole thing - but its not out...More

We visited the temple yesterday and were happy with the serenity and history of the temple. As we walked in, there was a ceremony being organised. It looked that a weekend thing as it was Sunday. Ladies were dancing offering prayers to the temple diety....More

This is visible at night and quite pretty from the waterfront downtown. We went in for more views of the temple, women take note, you must cover your shoulders. Once inside you get views of Turtle Tower.

You got to pay 30,000 VND and dress modestly to enter the temple (you can rent somme clothes as cover-up). This place is accessible via the famous red bridge. We didn't enter though as we've seen several free temples in Ha Noi.

Agree with most. You can view the lake from the shore and no need to pay extra entrance to go inside the temple. Not much to see but red color temple

Must pay a price to enter and while the temple is really nice it is not really worth it, just look from afar
