The Pagoda itself was stunning to look at, the grounds of the temple were very nice as well. I loved the little island, with the palm trees, vibrant colors, and unique architecture. Chua Tran Quoc is a must visit. The only negative thing about this attraction is the lake surrounding the island is in bad shape! Full of dead fish and trash. The city needs to do something about it.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 13, 2023
- André KHefei, China279 contributionsBeautiful pagoda at lakeBeautiful pagoda situated at West Lake. If you are interested in religious sites this would maybe be interesting. For me it was an very average place to visit to kill time in Hanoi. Nice restaurants and bars close by to enjoy a beer.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 15, 2023
- Vishal MMumbai, India185 contributionsPeaceful Vibes....This Pagoda is quiet the stunner in the scenery that it is set in beside the lake. It was pleasant surprise to know that India had given the tip of the Pagoda fairly recently as a gift. There is very peaceful vibe to the whole would suggest that you take some time to stroll around the place in the early evening to really develop a real appreciation for the whole setting. Make sure to visit this place and keep it in your itinerary.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten November 19, 2023
- BrakiWorldTravelerBelgrade, Serbia20,004 contributionsHanoi's most beautiful TempleI really recommend and encourage travelers to come and visit this Temple. It's not in the prime tourist area, but only a short 10 min Grab drive. It has a beautiful location on a tiny island on Hanoi's West Lake, linked with a causeway to a pretty busy road. Apart the beautiful scenery around, Tran Quoc is really a nice Temple, with a 11-story Pagoda holding important relics.Visited January 2024Traveled with familyWritten February 11, 2024
- Chris318iRegensburg, Germany422 contributionsNice pagodaSmall and nice temple between the wes lake Tây Hồ and Truc Bach lake. The entrance free of charge. During our visit the temple was very crowded. Not a must-see, but worth a visit when you are in the area.Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 7, 2024
- arpitamGurugram (Gurgaon), India1,063 contributionsWell worth visiting in the morningThe ancient pagoda is located in such a beautiful island off the edge of West lake in modern Hanoi. Since it is little away from the old quarters, it is advisable to start your day visit with this pagoda. The place is surrounded by very well managed walk-way amidst the busy main road of the city. The pagoda opens at 7 - 7.30 in the morning till evening.Visited April 2024Traveled soloWritten April 13, 2024
- dianedinkyDunfermline, United Kingdom1,347 contributionsMost beautiful pagoda in VietnamNot only a stunning pagoda but an impressive gateway and colourful walkway to get here. In a nice setting beside a lake and was lovely and quiet when I was there. Beware all the street sellers roundabout. Mainly selling paper cut cards but if you dare hesitate to look at anything they will harass you (and follow you down the street)! Also be mindful that the pagoda is closed over lunch. Our guide messed up and at 11.25pm the guy on the gate would not let us in no matter how he tried to persuade him. We visited something else and came back for reopening at 1.30pm and got the place pretty much to ourselves.Visited January 2024Traveled soloWritten April 23, 2024

The dress code wasn’t all that strict at all. The pagoda however does close around 11:30 am and reopens at 1:30 pm. So it’s best if you go during the morning hours.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 12, 2024

It is the oldest pagoda in the city. A sacred gem in the middle of West Lake. Tran Quoc Pagoda can offer visitors a unique cultural and religious experience.Visited September 2024Traveled soloWritten September 22, 2024

A very nice place to visit in Hanoi. Can easily see the pagoda from outside. It is also the best place to take photo to the pagoda. The architectures inside are well maintained. We can felt the peaceful surrounded although there were lot of tourists around. At the other side of the pagoda there is a beautiful seascape view to the west lake. We really like this place very much. Recommended to pay a visit if you are there.

This pagoda is very beautiful with lovely Buddha statues and bonsai trees all over the grounds. inside the temple there are many pieces of fine art and pictures of past and present monks. Within the grounds there are also large boards with different depictions of Karma situations, such as what will happen if you exploit some one or something for monetary gain, which is interesting as outside the pagoda there are people selling animals for offerings to the gods. It was upsetting seeing huge turtles with holes drilled into their shell to tie them down and hundreds of birds in small cages.

A very nice holy, spiritual, peaceful temple, with multiple shrines.
We visited during the day time and it was a peaceful experience even though right outside the temple the traffic was at its peak.
We spent about an hour soaking in the great aura this place has, it is clean and maintained well. There is no entry fee here however you can donate money in the drop boxes located inside the temple.

The precincts of the temple were spread out facing Lake Thailand. Facing Thanh Nien Street, there is a bridge section at the entrance to the compound, where many locals also gathered. The brown-painted tower of the compound stood out from a distance because it was the oldest Buddhist temple in Hanoi.

Absolutely stunning pagoda. Beautifully maintained and set in a great location. Opportunity for some lovely photos.
Unfortunately security is very poor meaning many people were not respecting the conservative dress code. Also one man got me to fill out a survey for his tourism students then proceeded to hassle me for a donation to Vietnam Red Cross. He quickly disappeared when I firmly said no but it was such as shame for him to be doing that at a sacred site.

Long pants, covered knees at least. No sexy tops at temples same as respect for other religious institutions in other countries.
