About
A favorite among late-night revelers, Khaosan Road is one of the major backpacking hubs of South East Asia. This short thoroughfare in central Bangkok is jam-packed with raucous bars and restaurants, as well as budget hostels. Try some unusual street food like scorpions on a stick, watch erotic shows, get a foot massage, or even a tattoo as a souvenir for your trip.
Khaosan Road is within walking distance from a ferry terminal and from landmarks like the Wat Phra Kaew temple and the Phra Sumen Fort, so set out to explore the area after arriving.

Do not recommend for street food. There are other great places such as Chinatown. Kaosan Road is more for the bars now.
Still recommend Shewa massage tho

We made the mistake of having our 1 night lay over stay here. Their music levels from each bar/club is absolutely insanity, biggest turn off from at least 7pm to 5-6am…. Pure hell on earth.
Shops were lack lustre, street food was disappointing and the harassment from bar promoters for cheap drinks and gas blocking the street is beyond off putting.
Will never return, this is not what Khoasan we remembered 7 years ago.

Gets busier as the day goes on, plenty of street food vendors, selling at reasonable prices compared to hotels and sit down restaurants. Great for people watching, sat in a nice quiet bar down a side alley, like an oasis in among the noisy bar and busy street. worth seeing, but we won't rush back, prefer something more peaceful!!

It wasn't as good as I remember it to be.
I last visited Khaosan Road back in 2015 with friends and it was enjoyable.
My second visit was full of people offering you cannabis and laughing gas.
Full with cheap bars and the food stalls were not so good.
I dunno why but the road used to be for pedestrians only, but now there were scooters on the road, so it was dangerous.

Be prepared for the craziness as it’s unreal!! Do not leave Bangkok without a visit here! We had a drink but did not feel 100% confident eating from the food stalls as they didn’t look too hygienic!

We loved the vibrancy of the area and cornucopia for the eyes, there are good deals to be found on just about everything.
Just make sure to haggle for it.

My idea of hell. Was last here in 2008 with children and we enjoyed the atmosphere, street food, etc. but on revisiting this time we were repelled by the noise (dj’s going ahead to head across the street from each other, the reps for pubs (offering, amongst other things, laughing gas), spit roasted alligator (not for the squeamish), and dodging the bleeding lay mopeds (those parked and being ridden). Simply bonkers or am I getting too old? ( I can hear the youngsters out there now)

Whats the best way to get to Kho San area from Nana area?

The street and area are walkable so depending on where you are staying have a cab or tuk tuk drop you off at the street or in the area that is also near the Royal Palace and Reclining Buddha.
Also, I’d recommend downloading the Grab App or Pass App that is like the Uber of Thailand.
