About
As one of the largest Chinatowns in the world, this area in Bangkok is renowned for its incredible shopping options and tantalizing cuisine. This fast-paced district was founded over 200 years ago and went on to become the main hub for Bangkok’s large Chinese community. Venture down Yaowarat Road, bustling with activity and brimming with shops offering an array of souvenirs, jewelry, and trinkets. Then, stop at a family-run restaurant to grab an oyster omelet or dim sum.
You can ride the metro to reach Chinatown. It's also within walking distance from landmarks like the Wat Traimit Temple.

I went to China town this vacation after come back from USA, I really surprised on price. It look so expensive more than last year, even if I’m Thai. I just wow! But food is good, especially Chinese food.

Energy. Traffic jams. Crowds. Street Food. A great experience. Come for the food at night. Have your food cooked in front of you while you wait. Eat standing up and then move on to the next food stall that takes your fancy.

Great outdoor location for people who likes crowded place and street food. Greatly recommend going at night time to enjoy the bustling streets filled with people and foods to eat.

What a great experience and the food was delicious! We loved it so much we went here twice while we were in Bangkok. Some of the best thai massages we had were here in Chinatown! Must stop in for dinner one night!

I really don’t know why people like to move in a filthy crowded atmosphere between roaring motorbikes and 38 C and still love it. No sidewalks, no hygiene, overpriced fake ‘street food’and 50bht elephant-pants-dressed backpackers walking guileless to a Disneyland alike China atmosphere. Nothing authentic just embarrassing when you know Asia better . Not very Asian at all . Like the typical farang images of China…I saw rats rushing by that were bigger than cats. Yikes. The open sewage system with its gorgeous smells amplifies the idyllic scenery. The only authentic Chinese things were their abominable greed and the cheap China made knock-offs of our Western products. Just pathetic.

Chinatown Bangkok is one of the largest and most interesting Chinatowns in Asia and way beyond what you know from San Francisco or elsewhere in the West. It is a totally different world than Thai Bangkok. Not a competitor, but rather an excellent addition. Together, they offer a comprehensive Asian flavor. Definitely a must, best experienced at night.

Hi, I was wondering if there is any where in China town to take classes ie. soap making, tai chi and the like. Also, I know they sell things from all over and there was something I used in Turkey many years ago, but, don't remember the name. When you went to someone's house they would hand you a tall bottle of a lemon scented liquid and it was used to freshen arms and hands. Does anyone know what it is called or where I can get it?

Hi, I'm not sure soap-making and Tai-chi are unique to Thailand. But there are many classes available such as muay thai, & Thai cooking. You can google Thai experiences or speak to your hotel concierge to find out details. I'm sorry, I've been to Thailand several times in the last 20-30 years, but I have no experience with the lemon scented liquid. Are they by any chance hand sanitizers?

Forgotten to add that the cost should not exceed 100B by BTS or MTR then by Bike.
If you take the cab during off peak hours its less than 100B. Chinatown market and most food stalls opens from 6.30am onwards and tech shops starts to set up by 7.30am. Its a huge place to walk: Wet Market, children and household stuff such as soft toys, toiletries, bedding items etc. Another area has whole sale sunglasses and electronic items for phones, headphone, speaker, cables etc etc then there are industrial stuff and home appliances and lastly, anything you are looking for to decorate or add on to cars/bikes/trucks etc. It will be a good 6 hours walk, view, see, eat and rest! enjoy!
Is China Town's close time is 17:00? I thought this is a night place :((
