- borhancikguPenang, Malaysia56 contributionsTravelling by Airport Rail LinkTravelling by Airport Rail Link from Swarnabumi Airport was easy, fast and comfortable. Traffic jam in Bangkok is unavoidable and taking the train takes you without any hassle. It is comfortable and takes you right to the heart of Bagkok for you to transfer connect to metro line and subway line.Visited April 2023Written May 20, 2023
- Al N14 contributionsConvenient, quick, reliable, inexpensiveThe most convenient, quick and reliable way to get to/from Suvarnabhumi airport. Trains run frequently, are well airconditioned, quick (no traffic jams, of course) and cost little (45 THB one-way from airport to Phayathai Station). Trains tend to be overcrowded by commuters during rush hour, though.Visited May 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten June 11, 2023
- Bhargava KrishnaBangalore District, India147 contributionsBest Airport TransportThe best option is to reach the airport to City, City to airport to avoid traffic jams and save a few baht in your pocket. But it's not a 24-hour service. I waited for almost 3 hours in the airport as I landed around 2.30 am for the train in the early morning. Budget-friendly when you particularly travel as a solo backpacker.Visited August 2022Written June 28, 2023
- TraveloscopyAdelaide, Australia234 contributionsQuick, efficient and cost effective.I've used this service more times than I can remember and find it very convenient and cheap. When first opened it was awkward as access was difficult and transfer between BTS and MRT difficult, especially with luggage. While still not perfect, this is now much improved. If you intend to use, do a little study beforehand and work out the best stop for your city destination - and most convenient transfer station. I am almost always solo and this is much better than a taxi. If in a group, you may prefer a pre-booked shuttle or taxi.Visited October 2023Traveled soloWritten December 8, 2023

Economical and convenient option to go between BKK airport and Bangkok city center. The train departs every 15 mins and 10mins during peak hours. It took only around 30 mins to get to our hotel, which is right next to the last stop of Airport Rail Link. Super convenient and quick. Highly recommend if you want to get the city center quickly. There are about 6 stops in between the airport to City Center.

It is very convenience and comfortable to go to Suvarnabhumi airport and go back into the city. The price is not much high comparing with the service.

If you need to get to or from the BKK main airport, the Airport Rail Link is a good option.. You will take the BTS to Phaya Thai and then buy a token for the airport rail link -- just 45 baht, Can't beat the price. The ride is about 1hour and you may end up standing, but people do exit so you may get lucky and have a seat free up.

You can download a map of the rail network from google that will give you more idea of where you might want to go and the change stations between stations and networks as there is the BTS system and the MRT system. The BTS is the one to catch into central Bangkok.

Hi, Im looking at taking the ARL but have a few questions. My flight arrives at around 8am, will be travelling with 1 suitcase and a carry on bag, is it safe and convenient to take the ARL at that time of the morning? Looking at the ARL map, i would have to get off at Makasaan Station and take a taxi/grab from there to my hotel in Sukumvit. Are there taxis at the front of that station?
Or would it be more convenient to just take a taxi from the airport at that time of the morning?

Hi, I travelled on the rail link and then got a taxi - there are always lots of taxis around so it shouldn’t be a problem. I found the rail transfer to be quick and relaxing compared to just being in a taxi. The roads are very busy so I was pleased there was an alternative.

Is the express line open again? A recent review implies it is, but I cannot confirm this. Thanks.

You are referring to the train that was running almost 10 years ago along side the airport link : the one that only stopped on few stations. They are not running, and from what I have researched, it will never be running.
Ciao.

Can I use a debit card to purchase the air train ticket when I arrive at BKK? How do I get a small amount of cash for a taxi when I arrive in Phaya Thai?
John K
Costa Mesa, CA1,396 contributions
Your best bet is to change a small amount of money at the airport. Exchange rate isn't quite as good as in town, but it's reasonable. ATMs are always a good option and offer good exchange rate, provided your bank will reimburse the added ATM fee (about $7 USD). Keep in mind that the train ticket from BKK to Phaya Thai is only $1.50 USD and taxi fares should be less than $10 USD.

Hoe do I get from the suvarnabhumi.airport to the BTS Skyrail?
Sitiawan10
Melbourne, Australia5 contributions
Take the Airport Rail Link from the basement of Suvarnabhumi airport to Phayathai. This is the terminal station of the ARL and Phayathai is also a BTS station, so just change to the BTS to take into downtown Sukhumvit.
