Don’t miss this if you are in Tana. A fascinating architectural site. Ask for Martin. Martin is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the political, cultural and architectural history of the Rova. He was a joy to tour this site with.

Really interesting history and architecture but it's the views over all of Tana that are the main draw. Take a local guide (I think it's mandatory anyway) as they're very knowledgeable and speak decent enough English.

This Queens Palace was beautiful in all its glory but now it is a burned out shell of what it used to be. Only the concrete exterior remain but still a beautiful castle. You have to take a guided tour to have any idea about...More

Having seen the palace before the fire I am a bit jaded in my opinion. It's a shame that the original structures have not been rebuilt. Our guide's command of English was marginal. The entry fee was a bit steep and then add another 50%...More

The Queen's Palace and the surrounding grounds were an interesting view into the history of Madagascar. My husband enjoys historical landmarks and especially remembers the church. It was nice to be able to look down on Tana and view all the rest of the city.

Expensive to get in, as you pay for your guide (if you aren't Madagascan). Once in, some great views over the surrounding countryside and the squalor below. The palace was burnt down some years ago, and is in the process of being renovated. (Completion in...More

Our guide barely spoke English, lied to us about his pay (so we tipped him extra) and left us as soon as we got in the gate. After being generally suspicious about the price we were charged I asked around to other friends who had...More

I enjoyed visiting the Palace. Nice views of the city down below. We saw the biggest spiders ever in the trees.

the palace itself is a bit of a ruin you need a lot of imagination but with a good guide who can tell you about the history, it is interesting as a starter of understanding the history and importance of the place for Madagascar,
