I love Tana – it is so vibrant and busy and full of lovely people going about their lives. But sometimes your need a break from all of that activity, and Parc Tsarasaotra is the perfect antidote. For the last three years on our first...More

This is a very good place for birding and a place where you could see the vulnerable Madagascar little grebe; the endangered Meller’s duck and the endangered Malagasy pond heron.

You no longer have to go to Boogie Pilgrim to purchase a ticket to this place. You can buy the "ticket" at the park but one caveat. You need exact change- 15,000 Ar. The guy at the gate looks like any person on the street....More

This is a great place for birders especially water birds like egrets, herons and ducks. There were so plenty of them that you could spent hours shooting your photos away. It would be convenient if you have your tripod and good zoom lens with you...More

What a hidden gem. Like many places in Madagascar is could use some TLC but this is a great place to escape the city and just sit surrounded by water and a huge number of birds. Certainly worth visiting for an hour or 2 if...More

Great number of water birds, ducks, herons, and roosting egrets. But we also saw a couple of Malagasy (Malachite) Kingfisher, White-throated Rail, Madagascar Kestrel, Madagascar Coucal, and more. You can get the ticket at the gate now a days. It was a Sunday morning when...More

Not sure the rules nowadays but when we went here you had to buy your tickets from the Boogie Pilgrim tour operator at the Waterfront Center, and you can't buy from the park directly. They open very early in the morning and you can park...More

You'll see a high wall hiding a little gem for birdwatchers here. A small wetlands area in the middle of this manic city is wholly unexpected but well worth a visit. White faced whistling ducks aplenty here amongst other species.
