- HelenjenBrisbane, Australia849 contributionsMore impressive viewed from Victoria Falls Zimbabwean side.We walked over this iconic bridge when we crossed from the Victorian Falls Township Zimbabwe to view the falls from the Zambian side and to visit to David Livingstone Museum and the impressive Royal Livingstone Hotel. There is a good view from Wild Horizons Lookout Café and definitely worth visiting for the delicious food. But, it makes for better viewing from inside the Vic Falls National Park, just make sure you take your trusty raincoats and protection for your camera….yes, we got “the smoke” on the way over but not on the way back! It was an easy walk and no queues to either depart Zimbabwe (make sure you purchase the multi visa on your way in @ the airport to cover you going into Zambia and returning to re-enter Zimbabwe 😊 Us Aussies no longer have to pay to enter Zambia just get the Visa stamp in our passports….bonus! The Zambian side of the falls were definitely worth seeing just not as impressive as from the Zimbabwean side. Again on our trip back over the bridge there was no need to queue @ either stop, not even interested if we had foodstuffs but the big challenge was getting back to Victoria Falls township without being harassed by the locals selling their souvenirs….it was relentless….although not quite as aggressive as the Egyptians!!! Some useless trivia, the engineer who was responsible for the design of this bridge also designed the Sydney Harbour Bridge.Visited March 2023Written April 20, 2023

There are some awesome views to be photographed from the bridge. Don't forget to point your camera to both sides of the bridge. There isn't much else there besides bungi jumping and a vendor or two, however, the crossing is worth it.Visited April 2023Traveled soloWritten May 9, 2023
- Terry MHamilton, Canada4,647 contributionsA STORIED PASTCompleted in 1905, the bridge joins Zambia and Zimbabwe. You get good distant views of it from the national parks in both countries. It was part of Cecil Rhodes’ Cape to Cairo railway dream. There is only one lane of traffic at a time plus a railway line. You can walk the bridge, seeing rapids below. Train dinners from both countries spend some time on the bridge before pulling back for dinner. For those not faint of heart you can bungee jump from the bridge.Visited July 2023Written July 9, 2023

It's a metal bridge that's looks remarkable considering its age. There's a rope dangling from the middle. They may offer seasonal bungee jumping.

We walked into Zambia after a helicopter flight over the Falls. Worth having yellow fever certificates in case asked for them and will need passports too. Bridge was very busy with vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Lorries carrying massive loads. Ladies carrying large loads on their heads. Fascinating walk with decent views of the Falls. The bridge is about 2 k from town and is about 1 and half k over and back. Can be done easily in sandals but walking shoes probably preferable.

To really appreciate and understand the greatness of this site, you have to visit it. Pictures and e wereIt’s can’t describe it. It’s truly amazing.
A tip: visit the fdd as los from both countries, Zimbabwe and Zambia. Very different points of view from each site. Get ready to get drenched, not wet!

When you walk between Zambia and Zimbabwe, this bridge over the Zambezi with views to the Falls and second gorge is right after the Zambian border. A nice walk, but be prepared for hawkers selling water, souvenirs: a friendly "maybe later" has them leaving you in peace. Of course, don't forget your passport and make sure you get a Kaza visa when first arriving in Zambia which enables you to cross into Zimbabwe multiple times for 30 days.

Essential walk when moving between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Great longer distance view of the Falls. Go earlier in the day to avoid the heat. Have your resistance mode on because you're going to get accosted by many hawkers selling copper bangles, wooden products, etc. Check out the bungee swing!

The fun part is watching the bungie jumpers on the bridge, it's kinda cool to watch them get hooked up then free fall off the bridge. Half way across there is a sign saying your entering Zambia, at the end of the bridge you can see a section of the falls.

Stunning location and the Bungee jumping is amazing. With the views of the falls and the gorge, couldn’t think of a better location to bungee.

Historical structure across a deep gorge next to Victoria Falls. Worth a visit. It can also be viewed from the historic Victoria Falls Hotel, a reminder of past years.

A landmark and a fast connection between Zim and Zam. Easy to cross. The views are an additional bonus.

We are going to VF the 3rd week in November 2020. I know its dry season but this is the only time we can go. For those who have been in mid-November, are the falls still impressive or not much water at all? Thank you.

We're there in early Sept, very little water. We took a long flight over the falls and to the National Park, didn't see animals either. Very disappointing. If you're already booked to go there, by all means. Otherwise save your money go elsewhere. No need to do the flight, absolutely waste of money.

Hello - traveling on US passport to Zimbabwe. We want to cross the bridge into Zambia to see falls from both sides.
1. Where do you get Kaza visa at VF airport?
2. Is yellow fever certification to re-enter Zimbabwe from Zambi, then travel onward to South Africa and back to US?

The Kaza visa is available from the immigration desk in the airport but usually only one of the kiosks has it so you may be pushed from one to another until you find the right one. When we arrived in April it was 2nd from right (ignore the sign saying Zim nationals). You only need a yellow fever cert. if travelling from a country with it. So unless you've stopped over or been to one before you should be ok. Check out the UK NHS web site which has very good advice on vaccinations.

Hi there,
Heading to Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe side) in 8 weeks (end March 2019).
We have a packed 3 day agenda, then on the 4th day we are getting picked up for the airport form our hotel (Rainbow Hotel) at 9.45am. We are really keen to walk across the Victoria Falls bridge to straddle the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia.
We are not actually wanting to go through the Zambia border crossing - I've read online in a few places conflicting view on whether additional Visas are needed or not. So my questions are:
1) If we were to walk from our hotel at 7am - is the enough time to walk to the bridge, through the Zimbabwe check point and half way across the bridge - then get back to the hotel in time for 9.45am?
2) Assuming we do not leave the Zambia side of the bridge, I've seen some say that actually as long as we have taken our passports with us, that we will get a stamped permit to reflect we are not entering Zambia and on returning that piece of paper back at the Zimbabwe check point then there is no cost for additional / multi-entry visa? We are both travelling on British passports.
I also know that the water level of the falls will be high at end of March, so we are prepared to get wet from the mist!
Any assistance appreciated - thanks!
:)

I want to add to my previous comment . There are a lot of local people crossing the borders daily (pedestrian ). Be at the border as early as you can . If you are going to view the falls , (walk down) why not cross the bride the same day ? You are there .

Hi, we are staying on the Zambia side and want to walk across to the Zimbabwe side. Do we need a visa before hand? Thanks

As you can see from other answers, you'll need a visa. We didn't have long queues when we crossed mid weed. If you hire a driver then they will have priority to get your visas done. The trucks waiting to cross sometimes wait days!

It really depends on the amount of water going over the falls, from February to July is usually best depending on the rainfall they've had, and how much spray is drifting down through the gap to the Boiling Pot.

Pour pouvoir traverser ce pont ou, tout au moins, profiter de la vue dont parle Myriam S., faut il acheter un visa aux douaniers du Zimbabwe?
Merci!

No visa required if not crossing the bridge - have passports at hand at the Zimbabwe exit office and inform them that you are not crossing the bridge - just walking on it. We had visitors walking with us and that's all they did. They got a slip from the exit office indicating this.

Hello,
Can you walk over the Zambezi Bridge from Zimbabwe with the free Bridge Pass and with a single entry visum, please? Or do you need a double entry visum for Zimbabwe, just to walk over the bridge? Thanks!
