This 12th century Islamic School was built by the Almoravids. It is named after the son of Youssef Ben Tachfine, the founder of Marrakech. It was a fully functioning school till the 19th century. It suffered neglect during the French Protectorate. It was restored by the Omar Benjelloun Foundation. You can see the photos of disrepair and restoration in this building. This is a beautiful building. It was constructed during the 16th century and served as an Islamic school. We were amazed at the wonderful architectural style, but also at the way of living in older days of the students of the school. The living quarters did not look very large or too comfortable! However the building itself is absolutely a must see sight.…

Just to let you know after 2-3 years the renovations are not finished and from what a man exiting the blue tarpaulin across the golden front door was saying it won’t be any time soon.... the outside the external work, is looking good. so when it reopens it’ll be fabulous! Disappointed ☹️…

although yet to open but i still try to reach this place to see how the status of renovation. but that is still closed on 03feb2020. so that i just visit outside and the alley and main door also pretty. i think inside the building should getting much more i could see.
