Our guide brought us here and we knew at this point that he gets a little something for bringing customers in. They show you around (a young woman making the carpets upstairs) as a demo. They tell you that it is a cooperative (which is...More

We were shown a large variety of rugs and carpets and received a 20-minute explanation of differents types of weaving. The patterns were intricate Moroccan designs. The carpets looked very good quality. The initial prices quoted were not cheap - they explained that for top...More

I bought a 6 X 9 handmade wool carpet. It was for 18,000 dirhams and I paid 14,500. I still can’t help feeling I overpaid! I should have started the bargaining process by telling them I was willing to pay for it with 5,000 dirhams!...More

his carpet cooperative was so/so. The salesmen were a bit shady in hindsight compared to our experiences in the souk. I wish I could buy into the idea of the cooperative, but I just can’t.

We were brought to Aux Merveilles by our guide, and...More

You accept that the main aim of the explanation about how the carpets are made are a sales pitch, but what quality of Berber and Moroccan carpets. For the adventurous a 70 step climb to the roof gives you panoramic views of the Medina: unrivalled...More

I bought a carpet here - as I'm not inclined to impulse shopping I was so happy when I saw this lovely circular rug! I had been looking for something for many years and just couldn't find the right size, colors and price. But I...More
