This UNESCO World Heritage is a great mix of old and modern Morocco. At first, it was difficult to find our ways, but after a half-day guided tour, we were able to go around without too much difficulty. There are small shops and workshops of all kinds. Some of them cater to the tourists, but there are sections where the locals do the shopping and eating. I recommend that one should explore these parts as they offer a glimpse of the people's life.

Absolutely my favorite site in all of Fez. We went in the late afternoon and had the place to ourselves. Due to recent restoration work, this was the best preserved of the three madrasas we visited that day. The masonry and carpentry wonderfully done. The dormitory rooms on the second and third floors provide some good views of the streets below and the Kairouan University/mosque nearby.

This is a special experience in this big city. The park is large and its views are great. I very much loved the experience. I will repeat it as soon as possible 😊

We visited two Medersas in the medina, and this one is larger and more elaborate. On the other hand, we could only look at the inside facades of the building from the courtyard. We could not visit the student rooms here. Being the more famous medersa, there were many group tourists when we visited. There is an exhibition about the 14th century water clock that can be seen outside the building. It was amazing that such an elaborate clock was installed so many years ago.

A 14th century fondouk that was the Inn of the Carpenters that now is an amazing museum displaying Morocco's various native woods plus tools and wooden doors and furniture.

The Fes el Bali Medina is one of the best in the world! There is everything there. So many cool sights, markets with fruits, clothes, souvenirs, leather goods, etc. The Fes el Bali Medina is incredible! It is a must see and you can’t miss it. I highly recommend for a “real” taste of Morocco!

Worth the visit but be smart. Ignore the people selling leather goods or offering directions. My partner and I walked into the viewing terrace and just said no whenever asked if we wanted to see the leather goods or buy anything and we were fine, no scams!! Just vigilantly say no

There were many people going through the gate during the day. (The first picture TA shows is not Bab Boujloud but the Royal Palace.) This gate has beautiful tile patterns with bright blue colors.

Very interesting mosque with mosaics and coloured stones and designs. Wall after wall of colourful mosaics with beautiful symmetry in architecture and art.

This is the area where the leather tannery coop is located surrounded by an abundance of leather stores. They give you a mint leaf to counters act the smell of the bird poop they use in the tanning process.

This is a small fountain in the medina. The tile pattern is pretty but nothing special. If you wander through the alleys of the medina, you will likely go by this place at one point or another.
