Nice overlook that includes views of the leper colony. We also went to the sugar mill and museum, which included lots of details about the colony and its inhabitants. Didn't realize people were sent there on the suspicion that they had the disease. But the views from the overlook were amazing. We went our first day here and it was a nice little trip and a very short walk

You will want to go on a clear day to get a good view from this lookout. There is lots of parking and a well maintained paved path a very short walk to the look out. There is a rock wall along the clif so a seated person in a wheel chair may have trouble seeing. There are very informative plaques but they are very weathered and difficult to read. Best to be informed first . A visit to the museum about a mile before the park will help to understand the leper colony which was under the lookout

Small concrete walking path, to a beautiful lookout space. Loved the historical info provided on the plaques. *When we first went in the morning, our view was obstructed by clouds. We returned later in the afternoon and we were able to see a breathtaking view of the peninsula and the colony. Highly recommend a visit!

I live 2 miles from this overlook and never tire of walking up to it to see it. It is different every time depending on the weather, the light, the time of day. When you realize how isolated this peninsula is from the rest of the world, it also hits home as to what people had to endure when banished to this place.

We took a nice and short walk to the overlook to see the village below and it was a super clear day and great view of Kalaupapa village. The hiking trail down to the village has been closed due to a landslide and is inaccessible. We really wanted to hike down to the village, but it is off limits.

OMG, what a view, what a view, what a view. With the mule path closed, I guess this is the second best thing to being there. Very awe inspiring. Getting there is very simple. A very short walk down a path that is fairly level and easily traversed even for an out of shape guy like me. Trust me, you'll be rewarded by the view for your efforts, as you imagine what it must have been like for Fr. Damien and the other settlers to have tried to make a life on that remote spot.

It is a pity that you can no longer ride a horse or mule down the cliff trail to the Kalaupapa leper colony. However, you can see the peninsula and the village and lighthouse, with the waves curling onto the beach. There is a tunnel like walk through a forest of ironwood from the parking lot down to the lookout, and some very interesting and helpful information signs provided so you can understand the history and tragedy of the location. Watch out for hats and scarfs and anything else which could be blown away; it is that windy.

Absolutely stunning. We rented bikes from Molokai Bicycle and Phillip gave us ride to overlook and we rode down to the ocean. It was a blast and enough small hills to keep the speed under control. Highly recommend.

Unfortunately the colony is closed at this time. Hopefully it will be re-opened but who knows when. This was our reason for coming to Molokai. When it does reopen we will just fly in for the day.
The overlook parking area is where you also park for the phallic rock. Be certain to do both.

The views of the ocean, town and mountainside were simply amazing. The waves and their sound even from this distance called out the power of the ocean. Overall a wonderful experience.
