About
This natural spout shoots up to 100 feet in the air—the view from the hilltop is impressive enough, but a hike down a rocky trail will let you get up close and personal. Approaching from the island’s west side is a lot easier than the drive from the east, and you may find the descent down to the geyser challenging. Wear appropriate footwear, as the area can be slippery and dangerous, and time your visit during high tide when the water spouts are at their most impressive. While you’re there, don’t miss checking out the Nakalele Point lighthouse, a short walk away. – Tripadvisor

    Quite something to see
There is lots of parking to go see the Blowhole, and it's a fairly easy walk to get close enough to see it. There are lots of signs warning of danger, and to not get close, however. It's pretty cool to see

A must see while in Maui!
This is a must see. If you aren't used to walking on un level surfaces it might be difficult. The path is there but it's not a leisurely walk. It requires a bit of coordination and definitely need to pay close attention. Wear walking shoes not flip flops. I wore hiking sandals and they were fine. Watching others trying to walk the trail with flops made it obvious it wasn't a good idea. The view is amazingly beautiful and definitely worth seeing. You don't have to walk all the way down to the blowhole to get a good picture or view. You can see it from above if you look at the trail and decide it's not for you. There's an area about half way down with large rocks where you can sit or stand and take some great pics and enjoy the view.

    Worth the Effort
Just a short but interesting drive from Kaanapali area. Parking can be scarce. Short walk to nice vantage point without making trek to the bottom. 5 and 6 year olds did the trek with no problem. 30 minutes round trip.

    Worth the walk
We walked all the way down to the blowhole and got a pretty close up view! It wasn't too hard of a hike or walk down, just climbing down the rocks. I'd recommend it to someone, but it's not a must see. It's kind of far away from other things you might be doing that day.

    Nature is amazing!
So it’s a climb down and back up! Wear proper shoes!!!! I’m not overly fit, but I wanted to do this. It’s 100% worth it. The landscape near the blowhole is like something from a science fiction movie. Be careful to time your visit with high tide otherwise the blowhole may not be very impressive! It’s a fun climb down and the climb up is fun too but I had to stop for breaks! Tie your hair up and wear sneakers. And do this!!! You won’t regret it.

Make a day of that part of the island if you’re coming from afar.
Beautiful day trip. Was I completely ‘WOW’D’, no, but I would do it again. We have a car and are here for 10 days so a great day. Seems to be some amazing stops we were You aware of on the way from Kapalua you may want to make a day of it.

    Worth the drive
The terrain is steep and rocky, but not necessary to hike all the way down to view the blowhole as it can still be seen from above. We arrived late afternoon and were able to see the waves crashing and water ‘blow’. The views from above of the open ocean and neighbouring cliffs was spectacular though very windy. We did not have an issue with parking at that time of day and the banana bread stand was still open. Nakalele blowhole may have been the destination, though the drive to and from was also amazing with several stopping places to admire the views and changing landscape.

The trip as excellent as the sight. Bring provisions.
Great hike to get closer (but not too close). Our children enjoyed the rocky terrain. We were able to buy a snack from a stand in the parking lot. Bring water. We were hoping to ‘find something’ for lunch, but ended up having to drive back to town because of the remote nature of this excursion. Thank goodness for snacks. Lots of scenic overlooks and beach stops along the way to get to this short hike & natural wonder.

Nice place to visit. Will recommend it
This is a really nice place. If you are staying in North West Maui, I will strongly recommend that you go there. T. The drive to get there is nice. There are red coloured rock formation that you will see as you are driving to the blowhole. You can see the blowhole by parking your car and walking about 5 mins. But if you prefer, you can walk down. We didnt go down so not sure how long it takes but my guess will be about 20-30 mins. We spent 15 mins here which is about the same for most people that I observed when I was there There is no entrance or parking fee here. Parking is on the side of the road ie no "established/paved parking lot

Great experience and great views along the way
This was worth the drive to go up to the far west side of the island. Lots of beautiful scenery along the way to the blow hole. Lots of places to pull off and get pictures of the ocean and cliffs and waves. Then when you arrive at the location it’s about a 250 foot flat walk to the edge so you can get pictures of the water shooting up in the sky.

The area of the blowhole was beautiful in itself, but when driving to/from there, DO NOT TAKE THE KAHEKILI HIGHWAY!!! Our Apple Maps recommended this route, so we took it without researching it. Apparently it’s nicknamed the “highway of death” which is an appropriate name. I didn’t see any warning signs upon entering the route regarding the dangers we would experience. It felt like you could die by falling off of the cliff at any moment; most of the route was a road that was barely wide enough to fit 1 car, yet it was meant for two-way traffic. That paired with extremely sharp turns made it a horrifying experience. Please take the other route. The views along the highway are beautiful but not at all worth the danger

One of the best views in Maui! The view of the blowhole and the ocean from the top of the cliff was breathtaking. We trekked down to the blowhole. It definitely was a workout, but nothing a reasonably fit person with proper shoes cannot do. The views and sounds of waves crashing against the rocks are something that one cannot experience from the top of the cliff. It is a must-see spot in Maui.

Pretty spectacular. The Nakalele Blowhole is pretty hard to get to and hike down to, but it's amazing to watch and listen to up close.

The walk/hike takes 15-20 minutes (one-way, and there are places where you have to ease yourself down over boulders, slide gently down on your rear or otherwise take tenuous steps, but it is worth every bit of energy you expend.

The views are incredible. Event when the blowhole is not at its highest (high tide is beat), the waves crashing on the cliffs, views of other cliffs and wildlife (crabs, small fish in pools) make this exceptional.

We have done this on three separate trips to Maui, and it’s a 100% must-do.

Go in the morning before crowds build. We went by 8 a.m., and we had maybe 6-8 other people near us. When we drove by two hours later, the parking was filled with 20-25 cars.

Watch tides. This is only good when tide is coming in. Not enough water at low tide. We unfortunately got there when there wasn’t enough water to make the water erupt.
