Totally worth it. Very quiet the day we visited. The view of the ocean was beautiful and peaceful. If you’re traveling to Akaka Falls, I recommend taking 15-20 minutes to stop here.

On a private tour Mauka Makai Adventures, Josh made a stop at Onomea Bay. Just a short, easy hike leads to this beautiful little bay. We were the only people there, and spent about 20-25 minutes just taking it in. There is something mesmerizing and...More

A wonderful hidden gem off the beaten path! It's an easy hike down with a rewarding view at the bottom. A very peaceful place! Definitely recommend it.

The Bay and the trails are full of quintessential Hawaiian views and landscapes that most travelers search out when visiting Hawaii. You really need to consider the trails as you get the best views!

The trail leading to the bay is downhill and a short hike in the shade of beautiful vegetation. The views are great from the trail and from the « beach » at the end of the trail. We just stayed on the public trail, which takes a...More

We were taking our friends sightseeing and found a nice spot to park our car. This place is usually hard to find parking. Got my knee brace on and trekked slowly downhill. Our first stop to the right was a nice bay area with a...More

This is part of the scenic drive between Hilo and Akaka Falls. There is a viewing point where you will likely see some cars pulled off to the side, and then there is a pretty well-paved trail going down hill. If you follow this trail,...More

We diverted to drive the scenic route. The drive was not that scenic, but we found this short hike. It was about .3 miles to the bottom and the beach. There was a couple places to enjoy the ocean crashing against rocks and roam along...More

A beautiful bay (no beach) at the coast near Hilo. You can leave the highwau 19 and follow the scenic road here. From the street a small way goes down to the bay.
