Take your guides and food with you. Very nice scenery, sacred place for people who live there. Different culture.

Beautiful, sacred. I like knowing that thousands have come to the Laguna for centuries! The walk is steep but easy. We took a public bus from Xela, just go to the bus station and ask. To return we grabbed a collective at the main road.

We book the tour with Altiplano Tour. Our guide William is an excellent guide speaking perfect English and taking good care of us. We left Xela at 6:00am and we were back around 12:30. There is about 1 hour driving to the base of the...More

Lovely lake in the middle of nature. Worth a visit. Many stairs you have to walk though. Be prepared for sore muscles!

Woth the trip. Went there with a pickup and saved energy for going down the 600 stairs and back. Went around the laguna. Great mist going and leaving the lake. Mystical and mysterious place.

Absolutely amazing, you can do the hike by yourself, locals are really helpful to point you in the right direction. Best to visit in the morning!

Very cool crater lake located at the bottom of a long, long staircase. Weather changes fast so be sure to bring rain-ready layers with you.

It’s definitely not an easy walk. Specially if you do like me and walk all the way from the highway. It’s so green, so peaceful and so full of nature. And the lake? What a view! Beautiful.

You can just go with a pick up in a mirador where you can see the lake from distance. The pick up is not confortable. You cannot walk down to the lake if you have problem for walking. I suggest to go early in the morning... More
