The town of Rio Dulce is nothing special. We were dropped off at the Litegua station and were immediately bombarded by a pushy guy asking if we wanted a launcha and where we were staying - I just said "no gracias" and kept moving. We...More

My FIrst Class bus from Guate City dropped me off in the middle of the street at 3:00 AM. OK, so maybe this isn't the fault of the town, but is the fault of the bus company. There is absolutely NO station, so they just...More

Great tour for a great price - especially for Cruise Ship passengers Having "Santo Tomas de Castilla / Guatemala" as a port of call on our cruise, we decided not to buy some heavily (!!!) over priced shore excursions on board our cruise ship. We...More

If possible, stay at the Hotelito Perdido. Rooms for all budgets. Awesome location. Reasonable prices. Delicious food. Excellent hosts. Relative luxury considering the location. Kayaks available. Nearby hot springs and cave tour. Restaurants also around here. A unique experience at a reasonable cost.

In spite of the rain and wind 14 of us went on a 60 minute speedy boat ride across the bay and up the Rio Dulce River. The villages on the tributary (Ak'Tenamit River) were amazing. This is a river community and people motor around...More

Edgar, more well known locally as "El Canche" is a very humble, honest, "lanchero" (boat tour guide). In Google Maps just search "Lanchas El Canche", Río Dulce.
