We stopped on the way from Lake Atitlan to Antigua because we didn't have time for Tikal. We hired a local guide and enjoyed the tour that lasted around 45 minutes. Very small place with a museum and small grounds and mostly foundations left. Still...More

We did this as an excursion from a cruise. Not sure we'd do it alone, it was a very long bus ride to get there but still enjoyed it all. Especially my husband more then me. I would recommend it to people that enjoy history.

Very nice site. Not so big but good for an understanding of the Maya cultur. Maya current religious site all the way in the back was Very impressive. Gives a realistic inside of current Maya religious rituals

Beautiful! A very serene experience. The site seems very well organized from its parking, purchasing tickets and information. You definitely want to take your time strolling around to fully embrace the culture and atmosphere.

As Mayan sites go this is small. Historically important in that is was the first Mayan city seen by the Spanish. If you are on the Pam American Highway between Lake Atitlan and Antigua it is worth a short stop.

The drive from Antigua is very hectic; but Iximche is worth it. Hire a guide to explain the functions of all the foundations you will see: Ball courts, temples, palaces, sacrificial alters, the calendar flower.

Iximche Parque Arqueologico is near "the first capitol of Guatemala." While the claim is not entirely accurate, the site has interesting Mayan ruins. Start with the new (2018) museum that explains the broader history of the site than is evident from the ruins, themselves. Be...More

I don't know the timing from Pana, as we came from Guatemala City. I'd suggest a half a day at Iximche.

Contact Agencia de Viajes, Antiqua, Guatemala. As of last summer transport to Iximche was $45 per person through them.
