As a nonprofit social enterprise, Maya Traditions is dedicated to facilitating access to national and international markets for Maya backstrap weaver artisans and their families in the highlands of Guatemala. Following a Fair Trade model, we continually seek to support our artisans, their families, and their communities through social programs that work to build capacity, preserve local cultures, and motivate indigenous women to strengthen their entrepreneurial ecosystems. TRADITIONAL ART FORMS IMMERSION COMMUNITY TOURS: Watch women weavers create woven textiles with intricate techniques involved in: natural dyeing, liso backstrap weaving, ikat tying, brocade technique or forming thread from raw ixcaco cotton. MAYA SPIRITUALITY AND NATURE -Take the chance to participate in a personalized Maya Spiritual ceremony. TRADITIONAL WEAVING WORKSHOPS: Learn to warp and weave from an indigenous master weaver and keep your woven work of art.

A great break from pottery, and textiles, and something that I find fascinating. Bought herbal items as gifts, and for myself. The girls there ( help) were lovely.
