This was a leisurely boat trip to a fort and park area. The coach drive from cruise terminal was long but the guide made it interesting. Guatemala is a poor country so expect to see children in circumstances which might upset you. Animal lovers on...More

We took a boat trip from catamaran hotel to Livingston. It is an interesting river with a rural section and a gorge.Locals are seen fishing from canoes and some families will come in canoes to sell handicrafts

In lieu of gathering at 0815 somewhere on the ship and being herded around to get this tour, we got off the ship mid-morning, walked 120 yards to the right and got what was a delightful tour of Rio Dulce for less money. If there...More

It's a nice boat ride from Livingston to Rio Dulce Town which takes about 2 hours. The part trough the canyon is very nice and we saw many birds and some locals going fishing. There was a 20min stop at a hot spring where you...More

The Rio is mangrove jungle Guatemala at it's typical best. Lots of cruiser boats and marinas so there are many ex-pat sailors around to boost the economy. The town of Fronteras is noisy and dirty, ie it's Guatemala, but there are some odd little gems...More

Rio Dulce is very beautiful. Take the boat trip to Livingston. The canyon full of trees at the end of the journey is stunning.

On an excursion from our cruise with Holland America in 11/14 we took a boat ride tour down the Rio Dulce, which turned out to be quite an adventure. We ended up having to switch from one larger boat to two smaller boats to save...More

Hi may I ask which tour company you used for the Rio Dulce adventure, and was it a good tour. We will be in port on Mar 17th, trying to decide on tour company.

Edgar, more well known locally as "El Canche" is a very humble, honest, "lanchero" (boat tour guide). In Google Maps just search "Lanchas El Canche", Río Dulce.
