Was on my to do list & it did not disappoint. Was last min decision but worth every min of it! Lots of stair climbing but just to see the ruins in person is wonderful.

Beautiful Mayan site rich and full of history. Bathrooms, food, souvenirs, and drinks on site. Great photo opportunities. Just be sure to bring bug repellant. Mosquitos are horrible.

It's very safe. Tour companies are best. There really are no crowds since the area is so large.

I would say they aren't that winding. At least not the route that we took. I don't recall any mountainous roads. I think your kid will be fine.
