Seats are falling apart a bit like in many older theaters, but I'd never been to a movie theater with a balcony and sitting in the balcony to see Thor on a really big screen was great!

Well worth experiencing. We sat in the balcony. Enjoyed watching the movie on the curved screen! Nice way to spend an evening in D.C.

On holidays from Australia we had walked past a few times. Last night we had nothing to do so decided to see the 5pm movie "The Circle". They seem to have only one movie running for a period of time. Foyer is small but theatre...More

This theater is a throw back to the 1950s. Two tiers of seats. Recommend the upper balcony for the experience.

The big screen and sound are suited for a musical like LaLa Land, which i enjoyed. The theater was clean, very comfortable seats, and the rest room tidy. The neighborhood is ideal if you wish to eat or just stroll a while beforehand or afterwards....More

Great classic theatre. Saw Rogue One, HUGE screen, great sound, great way to experience a movie like this. Sat upstairs, the seats are a little cramped and I think the lower level seats are more comfortable. Popcorn is good too.

We love that this theatre is in the heart of Cleveland Park. We love that is it old school. At times, we wish the chairs were more comfortable, and that we could reserve seats, but the Uptown seems to be more our speed than the...More

This neighborhood theatre is a landmark of Washington DC and very well known in Cleveland Park. If you are visiting D.C. And you love old theatres, then this is a must.

The Uptown is a classic theater in operation since 1936. It is in Cleveland Park right at a Metro stop on the red line, but we often walk there from our house. We booked the tickets online and whisked into the theater. The theater looked...More

This was my first time watching a movie in DC. Uptown offers a different movie experience than the multiplexes. With one screen and regular seating, you are likely to be less comfortable. The benefit was that it was uncrowded and there was no line at...More
