We stopped at the Lake Mead Visitor Center. The Visitor Center is nice. The facilities are good. The views are beautiful. The views at the back are nice. We spent about 30 minutes at the center. We drove down to take pictures of the Lake...More

If you're just driving through, as we were, you will still need to pay a $25 fee (per vehicle) to access this area. I thought it was absolutely absurd, as that's the price of many other, much better, National Parks (and this isn't a National...More

Rest place to spend some time. We will go out to the Hemingway Harbor to throw bread/popcorn out to the catfish. It is very interesting to see them scramble over one another to get their treat. Just to watch the mouths ready for the bread....More

The view on the top of the lookout was breathtaking! While there take the scenic drive around Lake Mead. It's so educational to see how much the Lake went down over the years. The long shuttered Lake Mead Marina is a true testament to what...More

Lake Mead National Recreational Area has a lot to offer. The beautiful blue water is amazing. We drove around to many of the shores and had lunch at Black Canyon. We saw many people in boats and kayaking. We would definitely go again.

Our Friday day on the lake was perfection. The 110 degree temperatures were softened by our floating in the lake. We found a private area, which are numerous and parked our SUV right by the lake. We had some inflatables which we floated on for...More

We try to avoid Interstates as we travel around the west, and so opted for a detour into the Lake Mead Recreation Area while traveling from Henderson to St George. It's truly frightening to see how low Lake Mead is ... hard to gauge how...More

We were in this area twice during our visit to Vegas. The first time was exiting out of the Valley of Fire heading south toward Vegas. That is a beautiful drive. We did cut over to Echo Bay to see the lake and that was...More

We drove from the Valley of Fire along Lake Mead to Hoover Dam. The lake is enormous, but the white line about 150 feet above the water is troubling. I had difficulty enjoying the beauty of the lake thinking about how low the water was...More

You certainly can see both on the way to the Grand Canyon but you will have to cross over the bridge and not the dam as this is no longer a through thoroughfare. Park up at the Bridge plaza and do the walk over it. The view... More
