We drove the byway in July, making stops at Stanley, Stanley Lake, Redfish Lake and Galena Summit Overlook. The Sawtooth Mountains are very beautiful and the road is well-maintained. Try to avoid going at peak vacation times; Stanley Lake and Redfish Lake were both overcrowded,...More

The drive up from Ketchum to Stanley is amazing. Did it on a late May sunny day and there was still loads of snow on the road edges. Views at almost every turn and the Sawtooth mountains are SO aptly named. Combine it with the...More

We took this byway from Stanley to Boise via highway 21. Based on the map we thought there would be a little switch backing and then be relatively mild curves. Wow were we surprised! Most of our trip was at 25-35 mph with steep turns...More

If you start in Challis then ride to Stanley and then over to Lowman, wow what a ride. The views just keep on coming. There's plenty of places to stop, fish, or go for a walk. It's definitely worth the drive or ride. We did...More

It is a Beautiful drive. Picturesque and calming. Allow time to stop and take in the scenery not just drive through. This land is untouched and just the way God created it.
