From the outside of the building you don't get a feel for the quality of the exhibits - it far exceeded our expectation. The work the preservation team have done on the Edwin Fox is outstanding and they should be very proud of their achievements...More

Very good display relating the history of this boat that transported some early Pakeha NZers from Europe. The remains of the hull well worth the visit.

What a wonderful museum. Definitely one of the South Islands hidden gems. To be able to walk on this piece of history is spine tingling when you think of the miles of ocean she has crossed and the people she has carried. A real piece...More

We had a day of leisure in Picton and visited the Edwin Fox museum. The film set the stage and really gave the history of this merchant ship. The artifacts and displays enhanced the experience. Then to walk aboard the ship was amazing, so much...More

This is a completely unique display of an amazing old ship that was once used to transport immigrants to NZ. The miseum was awesome - the video informative, and then we got to wander all over the ship itself. One of the best restoration projects...More

Whilst planning our 5 week tour of both islands, I had decided that my husband and I would visit the Edwin Fox, after crossing from Wellington to Picton. I was most surprised that there were so few people at the museum, especially as it is...More

Some of our ancestors came out on this boat. Just quite jaw-dropping to see the conditions the endured for 3-4 months at sea. Well done to all those people over the years who have worked to preserve this vessel. Well worth visiting.

Yes very close depending on size of ship because if very large ship they use a pier a bit further away than the smaller ships. Whichever pier it will still be a short walk
