This is a very well designed museum which is well worth a visit. There are many fascinating exhibits which are very well presented. And it’s free to enter (although donations are requested).

A very nicely put together museum showcasing some of the history of the shipwrecks on the west coast of Australia. Entry is free with a suggested donation of 5AUD. They now take paypass for the donation.

My husband and I are not really interested in Maritime history but suddenly found ourselves walking into this museum on an leisurely day we were spending in Fremantle. We put our donations in the box and thought that we would be inside for half an...More

From the moment you enter there is something to grab your attention. From the hull timbers of the Batavia, to old (very old) coins, cannons and cannon balls, lead ballast from wrecked ships and more.

We spent about 30mins here and the visit was interesting. It sparked a conversation and kids questions about shipwrecks, the size of the anchor, corrosion. I would make this a short stop since there are not that many exhibits. The museum is free and you...More

Informative centre with a wide array of artefacts and explanations. There were even monitors with audio elaborations on the artefacts to provide further info. Worth paying a visit as its free of charge.

Of all the historical sites in Fremantle this was our favourite. Amazing history in the items recovered in shipwrecks. This is a must see (and free) place to go.

This is worth a look for the History Buffs. It is more about the locals of the time. I learn so much from attending places like this. It is very museum like and would suggest you spend an hour to find out more about the...More

This is a neat museum detailing the history of many shipwrecks off the coast of WA, but it’s not so good that I’d recommend it unconditionally.

I’ve been to the Shipwreck Museum literally 30 times over the last 5 years and still love it as I’m besotted with maritime history. Unfortunately, as there hasn’t been a Shipwreck recently, everything is the same! This is not really a problem as there’s so...More
