About
Fremantle is the most eclectic and spirited seaside destination in the world. Right where the Swan River meets the Indian Ocean, Fremantle or Freo, as the locals call it, is a 30 minute train ride from Perth, WA’s capital city and the main departure point to Rottnest Island, home of the famous Quokka. Fremantle is Perth’s Old town. It’s a maritime city with spirit and soul, full of vibrancy, colour and culture. Chart a course through a coalescence of festivals, museums, UNESCO World Heritage, hundred year old markets and a soundtrack of sails and rigging in the sea breeze. Experience an otherworldly collision of musical and creative culture, and world class food and wine. Meet local characters who will lead you on adventures through historic streets, hidden laneways, and salty ports on your way to Rottnest Island. Our team of staff & volunteers are local experts & can provide free advice on things to do in Fremantle. Come and visit us in our new centre in Walyalup Koort, Fremantle

I visited here four times over 14 days and got a ton of friendly help. Best of all, FREE bicycle hire for an entire day. It really expanded my opportunities in Fremantle. Thanks especially to Annika and Dee!

My husband and I were looking at a map in front of the visitor centre when a nice lady who worked there approached us. She gave us very helpful tips on how to make the most of our visit to Fremantle and she also gave us a few useful brochures and map. We glad we stopped by the visitor centre because it was here that we learned about the two free bus routes around Fremantle! The nice lady definitely helped us a lot and she has the right personality for a tourist guide. Not only did she gave us beneficial information on getting around Fremantle, she also asked us questions about where we came from. I don't remember her name as I am terrible with names (bad excuse, I know) but she was wearing an ACDC t-shirt on 8 July 2016. Haha.

Spent several days in Fremantle on an extended trip to WA from UK. Should have called here first as when we did very helpful and friendly and with free maps and good advice would have saved us some shoe leather and time. Looking to come back to WA next year and next time will get fully sorted out here first !

Booked my hotel from Melbourne for Fremantle accommodation on the internet and unfortunately, when my husband and I arrived, were shocked and disappointed at what we found.
Exhausted after a 3 hour drive and disillusioned, didn't know what to do. We were directed to the Fremantle visitor centre.
We served by an enthusiastic and informative staff member, Ben, who immediately after a few details, knew exactly what accommodation would suit us. Displaying his efficiency, made a few phone calls, had our accommodation all organised. We immediately had this huge burden lifted from our shoulders. On viewing the accommodation, it was fantastic!! He knew exactly what we wanted. It was perfect.
We were extremely grateful that someone like Ben demonstrated enthusiasm and passion for his job, and was able to allow us to continue our trip without anymore setbacks.
More of us need to use the Visitor Centres. These people know their stuff and are lifesavers.. Thanks Ben. You made our stay in Fremantle even more memorable because of your magnificent foresight and advice. You know your stuff…….

We are frequent visitors to the Fremantle area (from Canada) and know our way around pretty well. We however, needed some help about some other areas. We visited the office and met with Ken, who was exceedingly helpful and friendly!!! The atmosphere of the office seemed really upbeat and it appeared the volunteers there were wuite enjoying themselves helping people out!!
