Fishing has always been an important part of Fremantle's economy. These days, you can wander around the Fishing Boat Harbour and see where the boats tie up. Fishing attracts diverse hard-working crews. The Fishing Boat Harbor attracts visitors who can't resist the fresh-cooked fish and chips for lunch. By the way, many people like to see the Bon Scott statue, which adjoins the Fishing Boat Harbour. The future AV/DC frontman got his start in Fremantle.

This is a beautiful part of town, love how close the fishing boats come into Freo. Would love to know what time the boats come in so we could watch them unload their catch. Loved the tributes to the fisherman around the harbour.

Walked along the prom around the harbour. Lots of interesting sculptures places at various points. Easy to ride / hire a bike to see the museums and restaurants to choose to visit.

Being only a five minute walk from our apartment, this place soon became our choice for a stroll. Walking the decking gazing over the harbour water gave for a relaxing atmosphere. Plenty to see, cafe's and restaurants abound.

Quite an interesting place to visit. Lots of colour and noise. We took a short walk to bathers beach and south mole to watch a container ship come in. Lots of eateries and breweries nearby. A bonus is the bon scott statue.

Great food with fresh fish on your doorstep, lots of choice in where you’ll dine. Yes it’s laid back but that’s the best part. Good cold beers at Little creatures brewery and great staff. Short walk to Bathers beach house and Maritime museum.

Fantastic working harbour to visit. Great area for walking round or having a meal or drinks in one of the many restaurants.

A great boardwalk lined with fish&chips restaurants, cafes and take aways where one can watch the passing parade of visitors and see the stunning reflections of the blue fishing boats. Dolphins come to say hello and so do pelicans and the atmosphere is eclectic, especially on weekends when the place is buzzing. The Indian Ocean and its marvelous sunsets are just behind the buildings, so the perfect spot for a quiet drink, a meal and pure relaxation.

It's such a great place to visit to view the fishing boats and commune with the seagulls.
It has changed a lot over the years, and long gone are the days (back in 1970) when my father could treat a family of six to fish and chips for 50c...
But it's charms remain, and the sounds of lapping water and the freshness of the sea air persist. I enjoyed my reunion after a couple of decades away, and think others will enjoy it too.

Is there only 1 tour per day?
I am looking for an afternoon tour of Freemantle.

Hi..is the place open at night and until what time??

I guess you should zero in on the restaurants there which you like to visit or eat and check their operating hours. If I recall correctly Cicerello's open up to 10pm. So possibly most of the other eatery there are also around this time. They all have their own Facebook or website with opening times which you can check easily.

Hi Grace, pretty much any beach is capable of producing whiting and herring but the north and south moles (where the rottnest ferry leaves the river for the sea ) would be a good start.
