Old quartz sand caves. Sand was transported to Riga for glass production. It was nice that the guide told stories about energy, happiness etc. So it was not just an excursion to an old mine.

Yeah it is sandy place, but sand is so soft fine and clean that not bother you. It is important notice, because caves are former sand mine, and there is sill a lot of sand there underground. Beautiful experience every summer, because attraction is open...More

Try this if you want to experience +8, 11 m underground. We went for a small excursion with a guide. Very interesting!

These were really interesting. From the carpark there is an intial 10-15 minute walk through the woods before getting to the actual caves. the caves themselves take about 25 -30 minutes to go through. There are guided yours, but we went later in the day...More

Realy hard finding the place. Dont go there buy google maps- if you come from east you have to take the right turn just before the bridge and drive about 5 minutes till you see the sign, then continue with it. Very intersting place ,...More

Would like to recommend to see those caves. Getting inside lighting just a candle atmosphere is strange. Rely only on the guide accompanying. There's one temperature all year long inside. Caves consist of several narrow and not so narrow, high ceiling and very low ceiling...More
