Overview
More
The church was built in 1881–84 for the Lutheran workers of the Kreenholm Factory and it was designed by St. Petersburg architect, Otto Pius von Hippius. The Alexander's Cathedral was damaged during both World War I and II. The bell town was destroyed in 1944 along with the Walcker organ that was located there. Today the church’s bell tower has been restored and Estonia’s largest hexagonal church hall awaits restoration. At the Alexander's Cathedral you can visit the bell tower and the observation platform installed there, as well as a museum where artworks from the 14th to 21st century are displayed.

Desperate need of restoration. Good to check the local architecture. Seems some elderly women are interested in selling small things from the church to tourists. Not much to visit in Narva. Thus tourists could buy souvenirs especially religious ones there.

Although beautiful and majestic, the inner side will disappoint some visitors. The place is quite dull and seems run down. It perspires authenticity though and hosts a decent museum on the first floor. Do not expect baroque decorations, this is as raw as a cathedral...More

That was WOW effect when I entered Alexander cathedral! I just did not expect such a pale and simple from outside church would be as authospheric and emotional as it eventually was! I realize the interior is partly under reconstruction and probably soon will become...More

I visited the Cathedral visiting for a music concert. The cathedral is one of the major attractions on Narva and is well worth a visit. The church is a 'working' church and should be judged as a place of worship not a tourist attraction. Facilities...More

Here's my daughter was baptized, and then many years later was baptized in her three sons in Alexander's Cathedral in Minsk. I remember this day in the summer 1981. Thank you Holy Alexander for your patronage.
