It's a nice Castle located near sigulda city. Very good views and a lot of past Latvian history connected to this place. Also very beautiful nature surrounding this place as well as the longest Latvian river Gauja goes around it. Highly recommend for a visit.

Not all that much to see, but there is a nice walk through the woods around the base of the castle. Not sure it is worth visiting without going to nearby Sigulda Castle, and even then, it is only just about worth it. But we...More

Beautiful castle ruins in Sigulda. The views from the tower are amazing. Nice area to picnic and learn about history of the area as well as the local legends surrounding the castle. Well preserved and clean grounds surrounding castle.

If it wasnt for a walk in the park and view from the tower, there really wouldnt be much to see. Lots of indoor space sparsely filled with small and insignificant artefacts of the past. A screen here and there but otherwise still soviet kind...More

Really enjoyable view from the tower! It was totally worth climbing the tower :) As for the rest, great park close by. The castle itself.. also nice, but not mind-blowing.

Had a great view of the castle. It was snowing when we went in. The whole place is superbly arranged.

Located a 5 minute drive out of Sigulda, it's quite an extensive complex with some interesting exhibits and stunning views from the top of the round turret over the surrounding countryside. The only downside was that in early spring, about half the exhibits ( and...More

The castle isn’t extremely impressive but the historical exhibition is insightful. The grounds surrounding the castle are pretty. The site was made more charming perhaps by the blanket of snow covering everything.

Train from Riga to Sigulda. Bus from there to castle. Return the same way. Very cheap and easy.

Look for my review from January 11, I uploaded photos of buses to/from the castle. Sigulda and Turaida castle are near each other, but the buses are few and far between, otherwise it's a long walk, although a pleasant one I... More
