To begin, the front door was open when I arrived, so I had no problems getting in! The Popular Front was integral to the resistance to communism during the 1980s. According to the museum they led the efforts to push for liberation and independence when...More

We learned all sorts of stuff - we never knew that 2 million people stood hand in hand to form the Baltic Way in 1989. Only downsides are the lack of English subtitles for the videos and the rather non-linear layout, but absolutely worth the...More

We tried the door several times and assumed was shut for Independence Day so went back the next day and same again. So we called the museum who said they were indeed open and we just needed to push the door harder. So really do...More

Great museum, everything has English translation and it's free! The front door was closed over when I arrived so it looked closed from the outside but I just pushed it and was through to the glass doors inside the building

Free museum with deep cultural meaning, necessary to truly understand the people of Latvia. A little hard to find, but Google takes you right to it in the old town area.

Not the easiest museum to find but worth the effort. This sets out in clear means and using a lot of audio visual devices, how the Latvians won their struggle for freedom. What would in other hands have been turned into a meaningless mass of words has been...More

We discovered this small museum by chance while exploring the Old town. There is free entry, and it is probably one of the most moving experiences, we have had in Riga. The museum is small, and located in a building on one of the small...More
