We went to the KGB museum in July and It gave a really vivid image of the Cheka in Latvia. The guide was in the Soviet army and seemed experienced and told the Corner House's story really well.

Sad to hear that the future of this museum is uncertain, and it will be closed for at least a short while later this year due to the elections, with its future thereafter up in the air...for political reasons. Similar to my comments on similar...More

The guided tour of this museum is terrific. It's chilling, intimate, gritty, without any frills or tourist traps. It is offered by local guides who have a pulse on the city and life under soviet occupation. I went to the terror museum in Budapest after...More

As chilling as this museum is, it is a must see for any visitor who wishes to understand Latvia’s recent history. Do pay for the guided tour- you will be simultaneously horrified, enlightened and grateful.

Take the guided tour when visiting this "museum". The guide will tell you the horrific but true story of Latvian suppression by the KGB until 1991 (!). To walk the rooms where political prisoners were tortured, learn how a perverted system of betrayal was instigated...More

This unassuming place is easy to pass by unnoticed. Find it and visit - and pay the extra for a tour. It is chilling learning about this place under the Russian occupation. I was moved to tears hearing about the terrible suffering. Don't miss it...More

Everyone knows about Nazi Germany, but in general the western world knows little of the atrocities of the Soviet regime. This is an important museum and I admired our guide and his desire to inform people about this horrible part of our history
