The center can be a little thronged with tourists, but the streets are broad enough and the area is large enough that you'll find plenty of little streets to explore.

The architecture of this area and much of Riga is steeped in Art Nouveau and there are so many quirky things to see if you look up! Dogs, cats and more up on the roof tops, beautiful sculptures and buildings..

Riga old town was nice, but a bit too big on a hot summers day, felt exhausted to walk around. Maybe that just means I need to go back on a colder day. Restaurants and bars were good.

Lithuania has beautiful beaches on the Curonian Spit. I didn't see any in Latvia.
