This little passage was used only by pedestrians back in the day due to its steep ascent. IWalk this passage from centuries ago, with the original cobble stones slippery and shiny from centuries of wear.

A really busy and bustling lane, full of tourists, street sellers, stalls and restaurants. Really worth walking down, lots to see and very interesting.

This feels like a secretive escape from the bustle of the town. The church is well worth a visit, leading into the Dominican monastery. I was fortunate in being there when there was an evening concert with mediaeval music. Also, nearby is a small courtyard...More

The most picturesque of Old Town's lanes. It is home to the St.Catherine's Guild, a collection of craft workshops where artists use traditional methods to create and sell glassware, hats, quilts, ceramics, jewelry, hand painted silk and other wares. Visitors can watch the artists at...More

This laneway is half hidden, connecting Vene and Müürivahe streets and shows the best of the back streets of Tallinn, it runs next to what was St. Catherine's Church. Located here is St. Catherine's Guild, a collection of craft workshops where artists use traditional methods...More

St. Catherine's passage is narrow and filled with tour groups, but an area that should not be missed. You can see gravestones from the medieval period mounted on one of the walls. There are small cafes as well as local craft stores selling felted hats,...More

The long passage was the nave of the former church within the monastery, as you walk along the passage you can see the gravestones from the medieval period. Very fascinating. Some interesting craft shops along the way.

Although it is now lined with restaurants and cafes and shops and some street vendors, St. Catherine's passage gives you a sense of medieval Tallinn, with its narrow width, overhangs, displayed grave stones, and rough cobbled street. A delightful corner of Tallinn.

Yes, this is the location of the "Sweater Wall", but there are other interesting shops along the other side. Also, be sure to check out the old tombstones attached to the side of the St. Catherine Church.
