In the old Pärnu located statue is nearly forgotten, luckily we found it and were able to see it. Worth to visit.

Statue of a great forefather of estonian culture, literature and journalism, specially connected with Pärnu. Founder of local newspaper Parnu Postimees.

I am now trying to rethink how to rate statues. Should the rating be based on what is worth going out of the way for. Should the rating be based on artistic value? On historical value? If a statue creates an opportunity for a guide...More

This statue done in full size (of an estonian writer i guess) is a nice ingredient on tha walking street in the center of Pärnu. It seems like it was made just for taking photos.

It was nice to get to know this great person of Estonian history. Also a good chance to take pictures besides him as a souvenir.

I'm not claiming that you go out of your way for this, but it is a really nice statue (and photo opportunity) and brought this character to my attention in a way that no plaque or history book would do.

Estonian glory. Thanks to him we have national songfestival - party for every estonian. Also a founder of local newspaper published on 5 June 1857.We can consider him as the father of Estonian journalism.

Really nice and well made sculpture of one of the most important man of Estonia. It's on a really good place, easy to access by car and by foot.

The statue is located on a pedestrian street on the old town centre of Parnu. Not worth a special trip but you will come across the bronze statue anyway as you visit old town.
