Don't pay to go in, just get the view for free from outside
The view is amazing, but you can get this by doing the hike up to it and viewing from the flat area next to the parking lot. It's a bit expensive to pay to enter, in my opinion not worth it because the inside is converted to a museum of Slovenia in general and souvenir shops. If you are looking for an authentic (and not over-renovated) castle experience, visit Predjama Castle instead.

    WOW
Wow, what an amazing view. I loved the visit there, a lot to see, both outside and inside museums. The only thing that was bugging me the entire time was the wasps in all Bled. It was a sunny day and it was crowded with wasps flying all over. This was in end of september and there was some guide talking about that this was worse in spring! Good visit, don´t know if I would go again if this is the case.

    A piece of history
It takes about 20 minutes to walk up to the castle and the steps are in the hundreds! The castle is well preserved and there is a lot of information inside. There are gift shops there and a café that does coffee tea and cake. The restaurant there is quite pricey and you really need to book beforehand. Amazing views across the lake and the town.

    Gorgeous setting
This is one of the most gorgeous places. The crystal clear water, the colors of the lake, the mountains, the church on an island, and the castle overlooking the lake — what a fairy tale setting. We would highly recommend the walk around the lake; there is an easy path and it should not take more 90 minutes with stops for obligatory pictures along the way. It can get very crowded from late morning through the afternoon, especially when the tour buses arrive en masse, so plan accordingly. Also highly recommend going up to the castle — the views of the lake are breathtaking. Again, keep in mind the large number of tour buses that arrive throughout the day, so go early or late to avoid the crowds.

    Astonishing view, underwhelming castle
Worth going for the view but the castle itself is incredibly underwhelming. Quite frankly I was a bit confused as to what I had actually paid for. I spent a fair bit of time wandering around trying to find what the cost of the ticket covered, convinced that I must have missed something. Turned out I hadn’t missed anything and the castle really is just made up of a few modern looking rooms and looks nothing like what you would expect a castle to look like from the inside. The outside of the castle is infinitely better and you can see that for free from the lake. I’m glad I went just for the view, although it’s worth noting that there are plenty of hiking trails around Bled that will give you an equally astonishing view for free.

    Interesting history, amazing view!!
As far as castles go around the globe, this one is pretty ordinary. A few interesting features include a replica of an early printing press that changed the way we share knowledge around the world, and a primitive version of indoor heating by radiator in the upper rooms. The chapel is beautiful., but the rest of the facility is rather mundane. On its own, the castle would have a three-star rating from us. However, the real reason you go up to the castle is the million-dollar view of Lake Bled and the valley beneath. That’s worth every penny! So I split the difference and gave it four stars.

Way better than the Bled Island!
Quite a must to visit this place. Not so much for the castle itself but more for its breathtaking view of the lake from above. The coffeeshop serves delicious bled cream cake and refreshing ice tea. Entrance for the castle is pricey and the parking rate has increased. Still, definitely way more worth it than the bled island!

    Stunning!
We came to Bled castle on a very rainy day. Nevertheless, the experience was stunning! An unbeatable view over the Bled lake, marvellously beautiful. The castle itself is nothing special really. It is the location and the views that counts. We also tried the restaurant for lunch - surprisingly good and highly recommended! Preferably book in advance. Well arranged parking (with a fee) beneath the castle. A bit tricky to walk up to the castle: steep and with "mean" little stones under ones feet... Quite expensive entrance fee... but it's worth it!

    Visit for the views alone
Nice castle to visit, climb to castle is very steep in some areas so if you have mobility issues you may struggle, just take your time and enjoy the walk up to castle. Castle itself is rather small compared to other castles in Europe but visually nice to look at and photograph, rooms in the castle for me disappointing with many of them not looking like how the rooms would have looked like in medieval times. For me castle is all about the views looking over lake bled top quality world class views not to be missed. If castle was at ground level I would say give it a miss but with location would recommend visiting.

Waste of time (great views though)
Only saving grace was the amazing views, we weren’t too disheartened with the experience because of them. The museum was quite interesting but the rest of the castle was not worth €15. To add insult to injury, I paid for two tickets online before visiting, the company didn’t send me my tickets with the QR codes, so had to pay again when we got there. They have since refunded after complaining but when you hike up to the level of the castle to find the tickets you’ve paid for arent there, it’s a bit of a downer to the trip. Like I say, the views are amazing but you can get free views if you hike up to ostrica for free. I think the castle is a waste of time - still don’t even know who lived there!

For me, this was one of the stops on an organized tour, but I feel it is worth reviewing in its own entry.

This was a great visit for me. Growing up, I loved medieval castles and knights, and as an adult, I started to nerd out with traditional printing techniques used by Gutenberg and was enthralled to learn they had a replica workshop in the castle!

I believe it was Oleg(?) that showed me the press. He seemed really pleased that I took an interest and even knew a few things about the printing process. I had to purchase a little souvenir for myself, and he even allowed me to pull the press handle. I would definitely recommend doing it, though I can imagine it must be chaos during the tourist/warm season, as I literally just walked up with nobody else around. It was absolutely the highlight for me.

The museum was only moderately interesting for me, but they do have a nice collection of old artifacts. The honey tasting was great too. The spicy one was to die for! I would have purchased some, but I am on a long stretch of travelling and I fear it would not survive the journey.

Really beautiful place with beautiful views, and I can see why people want to have their weddings there.

Nice castle, but a could do with a little livening up. The best part was the views for sure. 15 euros is a little bit pricy for what it is.

The best part about the castle is the views. Having visited so many castles in Europe for two years, this is a little less interesting than most. It is quaint but small and the museum inside is very basic. Possibly better with a guide? For the price, it was just barely worth it and that was almost entirely due to the perspective and vies from inside.

We hiked up from the lake, following the signage. However, the signs don’t mention the €15 entry fee.

Once you reach the top of the hike, you’re surrounded by walls - and therefore can’t see any nice views unless you pay the €15 entrance fee, which is a massive shame!

Friendly reminder to make a reservation to avoid parking fee and even the entry fee(its for the castle museum vieving). For resturant visitors the museum is free. We come here often for the food. It is expensive but it offers what no other resturant in Slovenia can offer. Its view. We come here on romantic dates or even with friends as couples. Nobody was ever disapointed with the food. Also the drinks- their pear juices are so good I cant resist. Also vines are amazing choices.

Perched high atop Lake Bled the castle gives you magnificent views of the Lake and the surrounding mountains. Great history information as well.

This is a medieval castle above the city of Bled that has the best view of Lake Bled and Bled Island. This is probably where most of the iconic pictures of the lake are taken.
Nice to explore this castle but it’s the view that is breathtaking
Apart from the views whilst there try the Bled Cream cake at the cafe which is divine!!

We visited the castle towards closing time and spent about an hour visiting it. It was worth doing, although for the price (€15 each) I didn't feel that it was a must-do.

My favorite part of the castle was probably the small gothic church that sits off of the upper courtyard. It was very pretty inside. We also explored the museum, which was semi-interesting, and the printing press area. One of the main attractions is the views down over Bled, the lake, and the nearby mountains. These are indeed pretty amazing, although we got others, probably even better, from the Mala Osojnica viewpoint at the opposite end. The general setup of the castle with its courtyards and pathways was interesting, as was a climb (short flight of stairs) up to the walkways running along the walls.

We walked to the castle by parking our car near St. Martin's church and following the path up. It was a bit steep but only took about 15 minutes, and less time going down. Overall we had an enjoyable visit to Bled Castle.

A lovely walk up to this beautiful castle on the edge of Lake Bled. Has a lovely cafe on a terrace overlooking the Lake. Some very interesting rooms including a colourful chapel. There was a car park near the entrance so road access too.

Castle is not huge and has excellent views of bled, the lake and surrounding areas.
Bit of a hike to get there but worth the effort.
Pretty good museum with good multilingual signage.
