I am so glad I did not let the rain stop me from visiting the square. The building were amazing and the atmosphere was lively.

I was really nice surprised how the Warszawa old town square looks like. Interesting old buildings, (some were rebuilt, but in old style, you almost cannot recognize), many monuments, walls, churches, fountains. Everywhere bikefriendly. And restaurants are also good and not too much expensive.

Castle Square is not the old town square. Castle Square is at the foot of Krakowskie Przedmieście street, known as the Royal Way, which leads onto the triangular shaped Castle Square. However, it is easy to walk to the old town square by using one...More

Anything relating to Polish nationhood was deliberately blown up by the Nazis in 1944. At castle square not even the skeletons of buildings were left. No wonder the Polish people after the war made quite an effort to rebuild the royal castle and townhouses rounding...More

We used the Castle Square as our place to explore and then to branch out from. The Zigmund statue is a great meeting place for tours etc. All around the Square are cafes and restaurants and plenty of photo opportunities.

We heard trumpeters from the Castle, saw a storm trooper standing guard, lots of music and performances going on. Overall a really nice atmosphere in a really beautiful setting.

Liked this location even more than Old Town Market Place (Rynek Starego Mia). There was a lot of tourists but also locals and some performers with music etc.

I was there on a Friday, and I did not notice much happening here. You have the horse carriage starting and ending here, bunch of people hanging around, many waiting on their groups. No mimes or performances. There are restaurants and cafes though :-)
