Cathedral Island was one of the main political centres in the early Polish state and the cathedral is one of the oldest churches in Poland, dating back from the 10th century.

It is possible to walk from the city centre to the Cathedral Island. There is a lot of free information you can find.

Having already visited Poznan 5 times it took me until my 6th visit to see the wonderful Cathedral Island. A short inexpensive Tram Ride from Poznan a must see.

We rode bikes to the island and you could ride around and see everything in a very short time. The cafe was really lovely with lovely people serving.

This is a long way out from the Old Town but there was not a lot to do over there- just really the cathedral which didn't take long to look round.
