- mystic100268 contributionsNot to be missed - One of the best Aviation Museums in EuropeWhat a wonderful and interesting museum. Spent over 4 hours leisurely looking at the various exhibits and could easily have spent longer had it not been -1 and snowing! A huge number on aircraft, helicopters and gliders on display both inside and outside. Good descriptive plates for each plane in both Polish and English. Small gift shop and a self service (vending machines) cafe with a few tables and chairs. Also a big collection of aircraft engines and a number of other bits of military equipment. All for just 27 Polish Zloty (about £5.40 at time of visit). Although outside the city centre it was only an easy 13 minute (5 stop) ride on the number 5 tram from the main station, followed by a short walk of about 500 yards. Would definitely recommend whether an aviation enthusiast like myself or not.Visited November 2023Traveled soloWritten November 25, 2023
- Michael Š122 contributionsInteresting remains of crashed aircraft and instrumentsA huge museum that is free on Tuesdays. Lots of planes not only Soviet but also from different continent. An interesting feature not seen so often in other museums are the remains of crashed aircraft and instruments. Definitely recommended.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 8, 2024
- muttibeyIzmir, Türkiye3,832 contributionsSuperIt is a fantastic museum in Krakow. It is not just for aviation lovers but if you love a bit history then you must see this museum. All the history is there. You can even get the history of airplane engines let alone the airplanes. Make sure you also stop at gift shop.Visited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten February 6, 2024
- nealgrahamNewbury, United Kingdom34 contributionsWell worth a visit if you are interested in aviation historyWhat a fantastic museum of aviation in the old Krakow airport premises. Not only have they packed out hangers with dioramas and aircraft that would be very rare to see elsewhere but outside is like visiting a cold war air base behind the iron curtain with MIGs everywhere! My highlight was the mechanical hall with so many types of both piston and later jet propulsion engines.Visited March 2024Traveled soloWritten March 24, 2024
- philSalisbury, United Kingdom22 contributionsCold War Aircraft - many unique. You do not need to be an aviation buff to find this museum quite awesome and superbly interesting. The Polish Airforce operated many aircraft of Russian origin and pretty much all of them are represented here alongside some unique examples of a variety of first and Second World War aircraft. If you want to get up close to some quite exceptional aircraft this is the place to go in Krakow. Cheap to enter, no limitations on photography and tram stop about 100m away.Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 6, 2024
- Staceyxx123xxGosport, United Kingdom29 contributionsLovely afternoon out, a good place for aviation people. This was a great few hours out for aviation fans. a lovely informative self guided tour with lots of information in polish and English. a map & signage around buildings was good , it wasn't too busy when we visited on a Thursday so it was nice to walk around at our own pace, lots of great aircraft and interesting artifacts on display. We spent 3 hours here and saw everything we wanted too and was amazed at the value for money and something different to do whilst visiting Krakow.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 6, 2024
- Adam37 contributionsGreat opportunity to see so many planes. Would be better with a guideVisited today and spent two hours visiting the variety of hangars as well as outdoor exhibitions, of which there are many. Highlights include seeing a Spitfire and a Messerschmitt 109 up close. Plenty of Migs and other interesting planes and helicopters. A massive room of engines by the anti air craft devices delivered a suitably impressive finale. Would only be better with a knowledgeable tour guide or, to keep costs low for customers, have an audio guided tour where you're spoken to as you're closer to the exhibitions. I felt I could have learned and appreciated it even more than I did. A very memorable place. Be prepared to take many photos - and don't forget to try the B17 Flying Fortress gun game.Visited April 2024Traveled soloWritten April 21, 2024
- bikeeandyDunfermline, United Kingdom724 contributionsSome Real RaritiesA great and diverse collection of aircraft. The biggest focus is on Warsaw Pact cold war aircraft, so lots of Migs, etc that we just don't get to see in the UK. Impressive collection. Quite a few are in pretty poor condition. But, would rather see them like that, than not at all. Museum is about a quarter mile from the tram stop, easy to find. We went on a Tuesday, so it was free. But, would happily have paid to see.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 29, 2024
- PeterY5Glasgow, United Kingdom94 contributionsEven my wife loved it!This place is heaven for anyone slightly interested in aircraft. You are free to roam around the huge field of old soviet built aircraft. The only thing they ask is that you do not touch the aircraft. It is a short bus ride (we were 5 stops away) from Krakow old town and a 5 minute walk once you get off the bus to the museum. If unsure where to go just ask the local people as we found so helpful and friendly. There is also an indoor museum with a few aircraft, a shop, a place to sit and a vending machine, but the real deal is outside as there is probably a 100 or more aircraft parked. My wife who is not the slightest bit interested in aircraft thought this was a 5 star experience, so I can't rate it highly enough......10 stars!!!Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 18, 2024
- soinic2,921 contributionsInteresting, but ...Easy to reach by tram/bus from city centre. Huge, modern building... well kept, clean... Plenty of planes (&related material)✈🛩🚁💺🪂 to see (some planes, helicopters ... however look more than wrecks 🤗, especially those parked outside/airplane graveyard). Recommend to visit this museum, but improvements should be made!! Mostly "Polish only", some explanations in English, but for example the part "women pilots" was sadly not translated ....only Polish 🙊 However the "warning signs"/what not do do ("climbing the exhibits and touching the propellers") are in Polish, but also in English, and even in Ukrainian and German?! 🤣 Please do some efforts concerning more translations (English).Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 22, 2024

Not on the general list of advertised tours out of Krakow and after visiting I can see why.
Really it could be a little goldmine if managed well, the staff were less than pleasant a surprise after the welcoming, friendly Poles in Krakow. This needs some investment and customer service training, getting on the tour map would generate investment, as I have to agree with other reviewers the exhibits are looking a little worse for wear.
Great to see so many Cold War Soviet jets that you don’t often see in the U.K.
I asked where the messerschmit BF 109 was only to get no understan English gestures, so I asked in German, the guy rode off.
Could be great, will probably be shut down sooner rather than later.

My wife and I saw this place on the Discover Krakow website and decided to give it a try. Personally I am glad we did, in here is an amazing array of aircraft with everything from training jets to Helicopters. We spent a good three hours there and had a wonderful time wandering about. As most of the aircraft are outside it is a bit overgrown But my wife who has severe walking difficulties had no problems as there are benches scattered everywhere. Being overgrown just makes this place more authentic to me. There is also a quite large interior part where they have uniforms from the Polish pilots who fought with the R.A.F. Plus there are model aircraft on display and some simulators. Unfortunately due to the restrictions around Covid you cannot go inside the craft but this in no way diminished our enjoyment. If you have a few hours to spare go here even if you are not an aircraft enthusiast I'm am sure you will have a good time.

Enjoyed the short tram ride from the city centre and strolling the grounds. Many of the planes are decommissioned Polish service planes and helicopters as well as crop sisters and some vehicles from WW2.
The indoor exhibit was closed on the day I visited due to a special event so there was a discount. Not every vehicle has a bilingual information plack but the ones that do supply very detailed description of the historical background and era.

Really loved this museum. We used the ‘get your guide app’ and bought tickets for just over £5 for all three of us. My teenage son was fascinated with the fighter jets and missiles. The majority of the aircraft are outside so maybe not great to visit on a cold or wet day. The aeroplanes outside are weathered although still very interesting. There are 3 or 4 hangers with better maintained examples and some interactive activities. The museum is only a short tram ride away from the centre and then a 5 minute walk. Would thoroughly recommend!

As you enter you pass an indoor section with a fine display of the Spitfire and the 109 German fighter plane.
I love how these planes are both positioned.
Outside the park grounds are big with a mig collection and the famous Harrier Jet.
This is an ideal day out from all the other main attractions of Krakow.
Situated outside of the main city centre.

Brilliant museum. Easy tram ride from the centre or old town. Superb exhibits both early (unique) planes and a plethora of engines. My husband is a plane nut but I was able to be interested for several hours given his informed commentary (and years of practice).

Really excellent museum with a broad range of aircraft covering all eras of aviation. We particularly enjoyed seeing the Mig-29 and the AN-26 and the Mig alley was really something special. Only slight criticism would be the lack of more US Cold War aircraft on display. Definitely worth a visit even if you are not 100% a fully fledged AV geek 😃

A fascinating review of cold war and post cold war airplanes. It cost us circa £2.50 each entry fee and you are then left to wander around some fascinating old airplanes. Certainly one for the plane buffs!

When going by Tram is the Museum in zone 1and would the ticket by valid to Nowa Huta ?
Written February 19, 2019
As mentioned above, it's less than 20 minutes to the museum, so a Z1 ticket will be fine, but Nowa Huta will be further, and will be in Zone 2.

We are looking at booking a mini break to Krakow at the hotel Alexandra. How long would it take to travel to the Austwich site?
Written May 20, 2018
Hi, they do pick ups from hotels around the old town vicinity, it takes about 45 minutes. They play a dvd in the bus to give you an idea of what happened and what you’ll will see, so it goes in quite fast. If it’s hot make sure you take a drink and a hat, as the walk around Birkenau is unshaded.

I understand you can get a taxi out to visit the centre, but is it hard to get a taxi back into the city, or how do you travel back to the city centre?
Written August 12, 2016
Finding a taxi in Krakow isn't a problem. A taxi from downtown to the Museum of Aviation should cost no more than 25 PLN.
With the Public transport (tram) you can get there from city center (line 4) or from the main railway station (line 5). Single tickets are available from vending machines at bus stops (cards, coins and banknotes) and in trams and buses (only coins and credit cards PayPass). Single ticket costs less than 1 euro. If you stay in Krakow for a few days worth to buy a ticket for 24h = 3.5 euro), 48h = 5.5 euro, 72h = 8 euros, 7 days = 10.5 euros. The prices are for adults. Children's tickets are half price. Tickets are checked often.
