While we all know the story behind Auschwitz it is quite another thing to visit.
You can still feel the victims presence all over.
Very well laid out and informative guide.
Took my 13 year old and he took a lot away with him too.
The 2nd part of the tour takes you to Birkenhau where you see more parts of the holocaust & the living conditions. There is quite a bit of walking.
The Salt Mine is also worth a visit but again a LOT of walking but don`t...More
We booked this full day tour before travelling just to make sure we could go on a particular day. We did both on the one day with lunch included. Each place is worth seeing for different reasons but very busy.
Corresponded by email with the company. They picked us up next to the apartments and then two other groups and we set off to Auschwitz and Birkenau. We all know what happened there but it was very moving to actually be there. Very peaceful as...More

It is a real discovery. Situated not far from krakow the salt mine was opened in the 13th century, and did produce table salt continuously until 2007. There are a lot of stairs and is located quite deep underground. Some lovely carvings and statues and...More
We toured the Salt Mine first in this tour of both. About 1.5 hour from Old Town Krakow. Very interesting with beautiful salt sculptures done by the miners. Auschwitz and Birkenau were the 2 concentration camps. So sad and moving. Great education of the inhuman...More
I had always wanted to go to Auschwitz, a bucket list ticked ... This tour gave me a much greater appreciation of what had occurred, I am great full that this piece of history has been preserved, we must never forget.
Do not visit Krakow without doing one of these tours. We did the Auschwitz tour and learnt so much from our very knowledgable guide. Michal and Daniel were very professional, courteous, obliging etc. Well worth it.

Hi Helen, to answer your question yes there is a lot of wooden stairs, 1st stage is approx 380 steps, with 3 stages 800 steps in total, but all descending, and a miners lift to return to the surface. As a lift goes up so too it must go down, there is disabled access as I saw signs to indicate so. It may be an idea to check tourist office or mine itself to clarify and find out times to suit, as salt mine is well worth a visit to see some amazing sculpture. Enjoy your trip
