About
To any Chopin aficionado, concerts of the piano master's musical works present themselves as a real treat. Pieces from the oeuvre of the legendary composer, renowned both in Poland and worldwide, are performed regularly all year round. The concerts highlight Chopin's most popular piano works, as performed by such notable pianists as, among others. 14 Slawkowska Street An old historical tenement house called "Dębinskim" or "Under Barrel".The house was built in the 15th century as an one-storeyed building and it was restructured thoroughly in the middle of the 16th century. After that the house became the property of a Royal Hunter named Kaspar Dębinski who worked for the Royal Family in the Wawel Castle. He ordered to add the second floor and then the house's facade was decorated with paintings presenting different kinds of weapons. At present you can see extraordinary the 19th century staircase with its original richly ornameted railing made of iron leading to the concert hall The concert hall is dedicated to F.Chopin was as one of the greatest composers of all time.

    A virtuoso performance of Chopin's lesser-known compositions
Pre-purchased our tickets (perhaps necessary only during the high season), to be met at the top of the stairs (for people with access issues, it's 2 storeys up stairs) by a very polite and pleasant manager, who invited us to be seated and to have the glass of wine (included in the ticket price), a pleasant, undemanding white. The young male pianist has won several competitions and awards, and has played widely across Europe, as well as China, and he put on a viruoso performance. The Chopin pieces selected are not the "greatest hits" (perhaps with the exception of the Polonnaise), and it was a well-chosen repertoire, since these are so rarely heard. An excellent way to spend an evening, highly recommended!

Talented Pianists at WONDERFUL Salon-style Venue!
I was traveling on vacation for two weeks and attended several Chopin concerts during this time. By far, this was my favorite venue mostly because the setting was "salon-like." [I went to two museum concerts and one fancy concert hall.] The building and room is simple. But Marco (sp?), the attendee, and set designer Toudis (sp?) were very hospitable and charming. I enjoyed this venue and the pianists to the extent that I attended every night while in Krakow! Each pianist was talented and remarkable in different ways and the performances were outstanding!

    A beautiful sonic experience
Listening to Chopin in a space dedicated to and named after him, within one of his home countries was an incredible and unique experience. Andrew, the "guide" makes the experience special. First, he welcomes you and gives you a short introduction of what you are about to experience, both a bit about Chopin and a bit about the pianist, Pawel Kubica, about to play pieces from the composer, and all that makes you feel right at home. Then, in the midst of several painting that sets the atmosphere, the pianist enters, bows and seats at the grand (magnificent really) piano. The show starts and you are taken by every sound to the genius of a composer that knew how to express and speak to hearts. The hour went by so fast! I got to hear some of favourite pieces such as the Etude 64 opus 2. The order of the pieces was quite ingenious, I must admit. Starting with a great way of warming up the hands and ending with a fantastic way of staying within the hearts, the pianist was dedicated and knew his material like the back of his hand, needing no music sheets to refer to which also meant not having to turn pages or make any additional even minimal noises or gestures that took the listener away from the main event. What a champ I had a great emotional time, sonically reconnecting in a very special way indeed. Not only is Chopin my favourite composer of all time, but here I was, in his country, listening to someone who loved his creations almost as much as I do and with Andrew, a clear fan who makes it possible daily. I stayed with Andrew after everyone had left, got to take a photo with Pawel Kubica, to thank him personally and talk more with Andrew about our love for music. Exceptional time indeed!

One pleasant hour with a classical composer.
A quaint venue just past the main square. The musician, who plays the classical pieces, was extremely talented. This is a really good hour to relax and appreciate the time it takes to compose this type of music.

Booked tickets on-line several days beforehand. Arrived at the venue to be told that he concert is cancelled. No email or text message notification. I'll give them a benefit of the doubt, maybe they'd just found out with 15 minutes to go, that the musicians couldn't make it. However, we didn't receive any apologies even afterwards. I tried emailing the address given in the original email with the tickets, but the email came back as "address invalid". Several days later, tried emailing a different address found on their website, again, no reply. I did however receive a refund on Saturday (concert was scheduled for previous Tuesday). Again, no email, apologies or explanation.

Dear Ewa J We apologize for the situation. For reasons beyond our control, we had to cancel the event (one of the musicians had an accident). However, we are sorry that we did not inform you properly and you did not receive an apology from us. Your comment has been discussed with the team to ensure that this does not happen again. We booked and pre-paid for our tickets for this event on Travelocity and the man at the door, Marek Prokopik, looked at our vouchers and refused us entry unless we paid him again. His reason was that Travelocity didn’t pay him for the tickets, which I find very difficult to believe as I have been booking excursions, airline tickets and hotels with them for many years now and have never had an issue. All other experiences in Poland and with Polish people have been wonderful. I was with 3 other travelers, and we were so looking forward to a relaxing evening of Chopin; instead we were humiliated and did not get to see the concert and the gatekeeper Marek was so happy to deny us entry. Total scam. No wonder this very small concert hall was 1/2 empty. Shame on you Chopin Concerts for treating visitors to your country in such a disgraceful manner. And double shame on you Marek Pokopik for being so rude to Chopin lovers.

The pianist Witold Wilczek is an amazing performer : we had a very great time listening to Chopin's music. The place is also awesome creating a perfect atmosphere for a classic concert. Moreover, the receptionist was welcoming. As a conclusion, a perfect evening !

Really nothing short of fantastic. We had the pleasure of seeing Paweł Kubica whose expertise was very evident throughout.
We had originally come to see Klezmer in that same venue, but the show was cancelled. The host was very kind and fixed the mistake promptly, inviting us to see the Chopin concert instead, and we weren’t disappointed! Very professional environment. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening.

I went 4 times to these concerts during my stay in Krakow. It was certainly a highlight to experience some classical music, particularly Chopin.

The room was lovely with numerous images connected to Chopin's life. The piano sounded fantastic. I received a warm welcome each time I arrived.

I was sometimes in a generous mood and would have tipped the musicians, quite a lot. But they all stayed in their room afterwards so I didn't meet them to pass on some money. (They might wish to stay in their room if they are shy or don't wish to meet patrons. If they can't speak English or another language. Or shielding, as people from all over the world, including perhaps red list countries visit.) I did see a tip plate on my last visit but I decided not to leave anything extra as I wasn't to know if all of it went to the musicians: split with managers, the owners, are tips pulled them split.

The hall gives musicians a good opportunity to perform and be exposed to the pressure of performing. All of them were on top form. (One did make a couple of mistakes but to the untrained ear it might not be noticed and these things happen in live events.) The musicians are all playing from memory, for an hour and none of them used sheet music as they knew the music so we'll.

I don't think one needs to be a tourist to enjoy these concerts, but it did seem that only tourists attend.

Although I enjoyed them thoroughly, every one. It might have been interesting to hear, perhaps, just one night, a variety of composers that influenced Chopin and his contemporaries. Perhaps some Chopin songs with a singer.

I spent two weeks in Krakow, and these concerts were certainly a highlight. I did return and heard the same pianist doing the exact same program as I enjoyed it so much.

My boyfriend and I spent a lovely evening at the Chopin concert at the Chopin Gallery. We are both classical music aficionados and I in particular love Chopin, so this was a real treat. For the length and quality of the concert, the price (around $15-$20 per person, I can't remember exactly how much) is fairly inexpensive (especially by American standards) and a glass of wine is included. The pianist we heard was Ireneusz Boczek, by far the most stoic pianist to play Romantic music. The music itself is beautiful and timeless and we enjoyed Boczek's interpretation.

Amazing experience definitely worth coming! The pianist Witold Wilczek is a truly talented young man and no surprise he has won so many awards and scholarships.
To be able to play Chopin you need to be skilled and experienced and Witold was both but also passionate.
Thank you for the beautiful performance!!

We very much enjoyed the concert tonight. We were warmly welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine and a little introductory speech about Chopin’s life. The musician, Radislaw Gozdzlikowski, played wonderfully some of Chopin’s best-known pieces. It was a delight listening to him as well as watching him play with such skill and virtuosity.

Nobody should leave Krakow without listening to a Chopin concert in this intimate and ellegant concert space. The young polish pianist R. Gozdikowsky performed outstandly some of the most famous pieces of Chopin. We foresee a brilliant future for this musician. Congratulations Radoslaw!!
The Chopin Gallery is located in the center of the town and the space is very well decorated, making possible an intimate atmosphere, ideal to enjoy the music of Chopin.
