Planty is one of the largest city parks which encircles the Old Town, where the Medieval city walls used to stand until the early 19th century. It is beautiful every season of the year. I reccommend to walk it all around.

This lush park encircles Krakow Old Town.
It was once the site of the city’s 13th-century defensive fortifications. During Austrian occupation in the first half of the 19th century, the moats were filled for a park.
This three-kilometer park is filled with trees, flowers, benches, and historic monuments.

The historic center is surrounded by a park that forms a ring of more than 4 km. It follows the city walls complete with a rampart which was later dismantled, apart from a small stretch near the San Floriano gate. Well-kept and very popular also because crossing it is practically obligatory, while walking the ring or a small stretch is a pleasant and relaxing thing that Krakow residents, and tourists, very willingly indulge in.

Certainly, this park is small and has nothing really extraordinary BUT I wouldn't really describe it as an activity, rather as an obligatory passage where you wander around to get from point A to point B. A little break nature (and for my part, a break with red and orange leaves flying in the wind) between two activities. Maybe it will make your route a little longer rather than going straight on ordinary streets but that doesn't matter. It is so nice !

This interesting Planty park surrounds the Stare Miasto or old town of krakow. Very neatly placed around the old town that serves as boundary. It’s a nice and safe place to go for a walk at night. There are benches around as well to relax and contemplate. Sometimes it’s nice to get out of the touristy crowd in the old town.

I am guessing that I live on another planet given most of the reviews but this was average for me. The park surrounds the Old Town. Yes there are historical monuments amongst other things and you get a good view of various buildings around the Old Town. Your likely to walk all or part of it whilst visiting the many tourist attractions. There are benches along the way. I am guessing it depends when you go. There was grass, trees and a lot of bird droppings but nothing that made it a 'pretty' park. Having said this, I walked part of it early morning when it was snowing a little and this was nice and cosy. When I went back another day, it just felt ordinary to me. It was a nice breath of fresh air to get away from the busy Old Town but I just don't think it was stunning or a must.

Beautiful parkland surrounding Krakow's old town. Very leafy and nice, plenty of benches and bins. Sometimes even plenty of homeless. Great place for an ice cream break when it's hot weather.

Don't think of it as an ordinary big park. Very beautiful, enjoyable, peaceful. It contains small lakes, a palace, certain departments of the university and museums. You walk side by side with the peacocks. Since it was close to where we were staying, we went to walk and rest.

This was the moat of ancient Krakow. Nowadays it is a leafy, laidback park around the touristy city center. A stroll around the serene park is a contrast with the tourist-packed main square.

A nice open space to walk through if you’re looking to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the old town square. It was nice to escape here for a stroll through the planty which was the former defendable moat that surrounded the old town.
We had a pleasurable stroll through the area on a nice fresh spring morning, not so attractive on a wet or miserable day. There are plenty of paths to take with ample benches to choose from to carry out some people watching. There are plenty of opportunities to step off the park to obtain some snacks or refreshments from the local shops or some street vendors.
A nice walk to take a break or kill some time - nothing more.

hello philandsa,
It is very likely that it will be snow and it may be cold, you have to dress on the bulb, so take a warm hat, warm socks, gloves and a scarf. And always be nice to walk and admire this beautiful city

C è la possibilità di noleggiare bici?! Se si da che parte del parco?! Grazie mille
