- CMcB3 contributionsNice hotel.A very nice hotel quite close to the city centre. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast wasn’t the best though. We went out for breakfast. The hotel is about 25-30 mins from the airport which was good. I would stay here again and I’d also recommend it too.Visited February 2022Traveled as a coupleWritten January 29, 2023

It also features picturesque streets, eateries (some Kosher) and lovely boutique shops.Visited March 2023Written March 20, 2023

I only wish that there would have been audioguiding accessible to use walking on our own.Visited July 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 24, 2023

Came to Plac Nowy in the morning hoping to find a bustling market selling fresh produce and WWII memorabilia- only a couple of stalls. Area is very run down - although that might appeal to some people. Came here at night. The area livens up with many bars and the square is full of fast food joints - there must have been atleast 10 zapiekanki stalls. Worth coming for a drink and a zapiekanak but you are better off having fun away from here in the cityVisited August 2023Traveled with familyWritten August 30, 2023
- Johnny TrekkieSan Diego, California9,263 contributionsOkayEvery travel book, travel website, and travel bloggers post that Kazimierz is a must visit while in Krakow...but nothing here "WOWed" me. I'm sure it would be much more meaningful if I was Jewish. You'll see some synagogues, chabads, independent eateries, bars, boutique shops, art galleries and lots and lots of graffiti. Some areas are nicer than others, but it just felt dirty. That said, it was nice to see a more "local" feel to Krakow than the touristy Old Town area. No McDonalds, Zara, Costa Coffee, or Starbucks around. Did I miss something?Visited September 2023Traveled soloWritten November 21, 2023

We did a buggy tour of the district, which really helped us know about the history, some of which we wouldn't have known about because just looking at some of the buildings they were quite hidden or not instantly recognised.

After a extremely emotional moving visit at Auschwitz camp, we took a large and calm tour at the Jewish quarter of Krakow, every stine on the road and every single brick from the walls is a witness of the darkest period of the Human History

Thoroughly enjoyed being able to visit some of the synagogues and leaning the history of the Jewish community in Krakow. Sadly some synagogue which were highlighted in our guide book turned out to be closed due to work being undertaken. We also enjoyed a fabulous lunch at one of the many enticing restaurants

It is so worth picking up a walking tour of the Jewish Quarter and Jewish Ghetto across the river. We went with Walkative, the yellow umbrella which starts at the old Synagogue. Two and half hours of great information about the area, old and new, devastating and beautiful. Human. A great way to spend the morning while honouring Jewish life in Poland.

Ich habe gesehen, dass es links vom jüdischen Viertel eine große Baustelle gibt. Kann man vom jüdischen Viertel aus in das Viertel links davon laufen oder muss man ganz außen rum laufen?

I hired a car from airport..cannot remember how much but under $100.

Where would we find this Damien doing the free walking tour of the Jewish quarter please?

You can enjoy this tour (note: it's not free) in the golf carts in the Krakow Old Town and Main Square where you will be exploring the Old Town, Jewish district – Kazimierz, former Ghetto, st. Marrys Church and plenty of these heritage sites, and those golf carts are equipped with an audio-guide system and different languages are available.
You will enjoy the experience and explore this city with over one thousand years of history.

Does the train run from the airport to kazimierz at night? Is it safe
Etienne V
Antwerp, Belgium35 contributions
The train from the airport does not run to Kazimierz but to the main railway station, not far from the central market square. From the station you can probably take a tram to the Jewish quarter. See information and timetables on the website of Krakau public transport "jakdojade".
Attention with the train : in november 2017 there were railway works and many trains did not run or where replaced by a bus. The train was not very frequent either (every 30 min) so I did not use it. See information on their website.
I have no idea if the train is safe at night.
For your comfort I would advise to book a taxi transfer from the airport direct to your destination in town. It takes about 30 min. and will cost around 25 € (90 PLN).
