I am an actor. This perspective certainly biases my review. We were the only ones taking the 1pm backstage tour. There was a very informative documentary and then we had a complete, comprehensive backstage tour, including operating the marionettes used in the performance. Who knew...More

I agree with another reviewer that you should get background before you go. I'm not an opera guy, so I didn't know the story. I followed along on a website I found that had the storyline text. The producers add a lot of humor to...More

The Czech culture takes its puppetry seriously. Very seriously. As an example, the National Marionette Theatre performs Mozart's DON GIOVANNI regularly in its handsome subterranean 300-seat playhouse in the old town. The audience is 90% adults and the performance (recorded music naturally) is not in...More

While the quality of the production was good, we had a rough time. I thought my son would be excited and like the marionettes, but we didn't have great seating (it is first come first serve). Also, I thought I allowed enough time to have...More

We loved the show. If you want to see it, I've got two hints for you: (1) read the story line in advance on Wikipedia (in detail), it helps to keep up with the show and understand the humour, (2) get there about 30 minutes...More

We went to see an opera done with puppets. Very original and i like the sense of humor, even if children would love it even more. 1.40 hour was a bit long and a 1 hour show would be more ideal before diner.

I am not a huge fan of puppets but I do expect a more professional performance. The storyline itself is unfit for kids. I see lots of kids are too boring to move around or chatting. Some parents felt asleep during the performance. The puppets...More

It was fun. The kids loved it. The place is a little tired and the tour guide was a little grumpy but it was fun to see the behind the scenes.

We visited the Marionette Theatre on our last night and wished we'd gone earlier so that we could have seen both shows. We weren't entirely sure what to expect but it was a memorable fun-filled 45 minutes. We chose to see The Magic Flute which...More

Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the
medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is
bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický
square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle
in the background, is probably the most beautiful
square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere
of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and
squares, and stone towers blend together with the
