We visited the Museum Seidel on 3 Sept. 2018. The well maintained property built in 1905 on the site of the original building is an unusual time travel experience to a 1880’s photographer’s studio and home. The rooms contain period furniture, numerous original items of...More

Well worth a visit for people with an interest in photography. Excellent audioguide to explain each room. The lady on the desk was rather brusque and unfriendly though, and could have made me think twice about paying to go in.

Who likes history around late 19. century and early 20. century, should go there. You will learn about the difficulties and beauties of complicated coexistence of Czechs and Germans in this area. Sometimes old pictures tells more than written thinkings or summaries on papers.

Our guide suggested we should do this and we learned a great deal about Josef Seidel and his son. They were pioneers in photography and quite a lot of their work escaped the horrors o the nazis and communists.

This is a great museum that preserves the look and feel of Seidel's photography workshop as well as understanding Seidel himself. Anyone with an interest in photography would thoroughly enjoy the museum. We used the English audioguide which was very well done.
